*WISDOM FOR TODAY.*

*WHAT WILL GOD REMEMBER YOU FOR?(3)*

*Scripture Treasure.*

Luke 21:1-4

*And he looked up, and saw the rich men casting their gifts into the treasury.*

*And he saw also a certain poor widow casting in thither two mites.*

*And he said, Of a truth I say unto you, that this poor widow hath cast in more than they all:*

*For all these have of their abundance cast in unto the offerings of God: but she of her penury hath cast in all the living that she had.*

*Insight and Highlight.*

You can give sacrificially regardless of your social status. Jesus remembers people regardless of their social standing when their Christian integrity produces sacrificial

devotion to Him.

*Scripture Commentaries.*

Life do not recognize or remember the poor because people do not value them.

Solomon says a poor man's wisdom was not remembered because he was poor, Eccl 9:15-16.

Jesus teaches us a great lesson in Mark and Luke that regardless of who you are, there is recognition for those whose Christian character and integrity are directed toward God regardless of their social status.

A widow's unwavering commitment and love for her God to give *"...two mites, which make a farthing"*... which was *".....all her living into the treasury."* was not losing her livelihood but gaining honour from Jesus

While some may criticize her heart of giving claiming Jesus' endorsement was not a way to encourage such sacrificial or any giving from the poor, her giving will forever remain a standard by which God evaluates our giving into His treasury.

The casting of gifts (offering) into the treasury recorded by Mark and Luke teach us several things

Firstly, a person can be remembered for what he/she gives.

Second is that carefully considering, with godly fear, what to give at any time of giving offering, is crucial in the life of Christ's followers, if Christ is to remember them for their giving.

What we give at every offering will determine how well we will be remembered with our giving.

When you give, you are giving into the Lord's treasury not just anywhere. Every offering box in the Church of God is God's treasury.

Thirdly, Jesus supervises all giving, in every location, place, time etc.

Jesus *".....sat over against the treasury,...."* Mark 12:41 and *"And he looked up, and saw the rich men casting their gifts into the treasury.* Lk 21:1.

Fourthly, what we give at every offering will determine how Jesus evaluates giving.

Jesus said *Of a truth I say unto you, that this poor widow hath cast in more than they all:* Lk 21:3.

He further said *For all these have of their abundance cast in unto the offerings of God: but she of her penury hath cast in all the living that she had.* Lk 21:4.

This teaches us that Jesus evaluates every giving by the sacrifice behind it.

Jesus was not encouraging low giving but was teaching that a person can give little or much and encourages a sacrifice with it.

When Jesus said in Lk 21:4a that *"For all these have of their abundance cast in unto the offerings of God:......"* means that the rich gave out of their abundance but still had much left but no sacrifice was involved.

The rich gave from their abundance, but the poor widow gave all she had, representing absolute sacrifice and devotion. She forfeited what she knew she could not get or please (earthly) for what she was guaranteed to have and please (Jesus).

Sacrificial giving provokes God's blessings.

Sacrifice means giving something at a cost or at the expense of something else.

What have you sacrificed for Jesus?

What would He remember you for?

*Remorse corner.*

Jesus remembered the poor widow and was recorded into eternal records because the sacrifice behind her giving was greater than the mites she gave.

*Call to Word action.*

The widow mite was not to encourage minute/small giving but to encourage the size of what we give by our status along with a heart of sacrifice.

*Call to Word action.*

You can give very well according to your status.

The status of the woman was *".......a certain poor widow....."*'. The status of *"....the rich men..."*....*" was their abundance....."*, Luke 21:1, 2, 4. Each category could give sacrificially according to their abilities.

*Prayer*

Lord help me to give sacrificially according or regardless of my social status. Remember my sacrifices, O Lord, ( Ps 20:3-5), in Jesus name.

Good morning all and have a blessed day.

God bless you.

Shalom.
