*WISDOM FOR TODAY.*

*WHAT WILL GOD REMEMBER YOU FOR?(2)*

*Scripture Treasure.*

Matt 26: 6- 13

v6  *Now when Jesus was in Bethany, in the house of Simon the leper,*

v7  *There came unto him a woman having an alabaster box of very precious ointment, and poured it on his head, as he sat at meat.*

v8  *But when his disciples saw it, they had indignation, saying, To what purpose is this waste?*

v9  *For this ointment might have been sold for much, and given to the poor.*

v10  *When Jesus understood it, he said unto them, Why trouble ye the woman? for she hath wrought a good work upon me.*

v11  *For ye have the poor always with you; but me ye have not always.*

v12  *For in that she hath poured this ointment on my body, she did it for my burial.*

v13  *Verily I say unto you, Wheresoever this gospel shall be preached in the whole world, there shall also this, that this woman hath done, be told for a memorial of her.*

*Insight and Highlight.*

A costly display of humility and worship from someone considered a sinner and the same from a woman with the Alabaster oil, opened the door of salvation and rememberance to each of them respectively.

*Scripture Commentaries.*

The story of Mary of Bethany (sister of Lazarus) teaches us that extravagance is not waste when it is done for God.

In other words you can not give too much to God and whatever you give to Him can never be compared to what He has given you.

You can not give too much or outgive God who has more than enough to give and still have abundance left.

Mary of Bethany is remembered today and forever.

Jesus said in Matt 26:13 and Mark 14:9.

*Verily I say unto you, Wheresoever this gospel shall be preached in the whole world, there shall also this, that this woman hath done, be told for a memorial of her.*

It was a costly jar of perfume. She washed his feet with her tears and hair, demonstrating deep love and gratitude.

Her giving runs parallel to the preaching of the gospel.

An act of devotion that brought her to kneel behind Jesus at a dinner, broke the sealed jar, and poured the perfume on his head or feet, weeping and wiping his feet with her hair, Matt 26, Mark 14, Luke 7, and John 12.

While Judas criticized the anointing calling it a waste, Jesus acknowledged and endorsed it.

His criticism opened his selfish secrets, not as one who cared for the poor but as a way to amass as much money for himself to steal, John 6:4-6.

Worse to come was that immediately he condemned Mary's act of kindness, he *".....went unto the chief priests,..."* to negotiate the arrest of Jesus, Matt 26:14-16.

Many of us consider our money too dear to give to God. We spend on ourselves at God's expense.

While we must spend on ourselves we ought not do so at God's expense.

Luke's gospel identified a similar event and identified the woman as *"....a sinful woman.*

This is often differentiated and considered

distinct from Mary of Bethany (Lazarus' sister). This may be because Mary had been assessed by Jesus when He said *But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.* (Luke 10:42) rather than the sinful woman who needed forgiveness.

Jesus said about the sinful woman in Luke 7:46-48, 50, saying

*Thou gavest me no kiss: but this woman since the time I came in hath not ceased to kiss my feet.*

*My head with oil thou didst not anoint: but this woman hath anointed my feet with ointment.*

*Wherefore I say unto thee, Her sins, which are many, are forgiven; for she loved much: but to whom little is forgiven, the same loveth little.*

*And he said unto her, Thy sins are forgiven*

*And he said to the woman, Thy faith hath saved thee; go in peace.*

What would Jesus say about you?

What would Jesus remember you for?

*Remorse corner.*

Anytime you consider giving to God a waste, your remembrance before Him is questionable.

*Call to Word action.*

God is too rich. He says *If I were hungry, I would not tell thee: for the world is mine, and the fulness thereof.* Ps 50:12.

*The Christian clarion duty.*

There is an acount of remembrance for those who bless the Kingdom.

So when you give to God, as you are giving to yourself, you are a Kingdom treasure and His treasurer!

Philippians 4:17 *Not because I desire a gift: but I desire fruit that may abound to your account.*

*Prayer.*

Lord, let me be remembered in Your Kingdom. Let me be a treasure to You, in Jesus name.

Good morning all and have a blessed day.

God bless you.

Shalom.
