*Scripture Commentaries.*
The gospels recorded severally the number of people following Jesus.
The miracle of Jesus' feeding of *"...many..."*, *".....much people....."*, *"......multitude....."*(Mark 9:12, 16, John 6: 2) was recorded as the miracle of feeding the 5,000 by Matthew, Mark.and John in Matt 14, Mark 6, Luke 9, John 6 respectively.
Out of all the gospel writers, only John specifies that the food came from a boy.
Jesus multiplies five loaves and two fish to feed a massive crowd, leaving twelve baskets of leftovers from a small, meager efforts (a little boy's lunch).
The boy will forever be remembered.
Jesus combined many things together through the little boy's giving and the subsequent multiplication of the five loaves and fish.
First, the miracle points to Jesus as the Bread of Life. Trusting God for divine provision for the multiplying of the little we have.
Christ's compassion was a driving force.
His ability to provide as the All-sufficient and His power to provide in abundance, 2 Cor 9:8, John 6:35.
Secondly, the miracle highlights how often provision oils the wheel of the gospel.
Gospel, with man's provision and our compassion for each other.
Just feeding the people with spiritual food does not rule out feeding them for survival.
Jesus teaches that a leader should discern the point where teaching starts and when it stops for feeding to take over.
He teaches that the gospel, is not only to meet the salvation need of people but also to meet their overwhelming need for survival.
Jesus realizes they must be hungry and ordered that they be sat down.
Thirdly, Jesus teaches that spiritual satisfaction breeds physical sacrifice.
Paul teaches The relationship between spiritual satisfaction and physical sacrifice.
He writes saying that if the Church has taught and blessed you with spiritual blessings you, in return, ought to give what you have or own.
You can not keep all you have when the Church is giving you all it has.
He writes in 1 Cor 9:11: *If we have sown unto you spiritual things, is it a great thing if we shall reap your carnal things?*
Besides Christ's compassion we must also be compassionate to each other's needs.
Jesus also teaches also that while it is important that preachers/leaders, churches must temper compassion to provide for people and with the strong message of salvation, not every form of provision must come solely from the Church.
Individuals/people/community must also volunteer to feed the Church, God's people and their community.
What you provide for the Church does not have to be much. If everybody brings the little they have, more will be available.
While the disciples were wondering how they would feed the multitude, Andrew, Simon Peter's brother found a little lad who volunteered.
John 6:7-9 says
*Philip answered him, Two hundred pennyworth of bread is not sufficient for them, that every one of them may take a little.*
*One of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter's brother, saith unto him,*
*There is a lad here, which hath five barley loaves, and two small fishes: but what are they among so many?*
A little boy sacrificed his meal.
People should not just depend on the Church we must also contribute or be ready to sacrifice food for the Church outreach and our fellow community people.
We must sow into the vision, not only which we believe in, but also in the vision that would saves others.
Fourthly, Jesus teaches that what you give God can not be wasted. God is a good manager. The giver will not lose and what he has given God will never be wasted.
You can not lose when you give to God
Jesus says in John 6:12 *When they were filled, he said unto his disciples, Gather up the fragments that remain, that nothing be lost.*
The little boy sowed into the need of which he was part of and was noted forever as a vessel through whom five thousand people were fed.
What would be recorded of you?
What would be remembered of you?
What would people or God remember you for ?
*Remorse Corner.*
The little boy's sacrifice provoked the blessings of the Jesus: the Bread of Life.
He will forever be remembered.
*Call to Word action.*
John 6:35 *And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.*
*The Christian clarion duty.*
You can not keep all you have from God who gives you all He has.
*Prayer.*
Lord, Let me do what You will remember me for. Let me make fruitful impact in Your Kingdom in Jesus name.
Good morning all.
God bless you.
Shalom.
