*THE POWER OF GOD'S NAME IN HIS WORD*

*Scripture Treasure.*

Psalm 138:2 *I will worship toward Thy holy temple, and praise Thy name for Thy lovingkindness and for Thy truth, for Thou hast magnified Thy word above all Thy name.*

*Insight and Highlight.*

God has magnified His word above all His name because He is faithful by what He says.

*Scripture Commentaries.*

When God chose to magnify His word above all His name, He was telling us of the power in His name by the word He speaks.

He is the voice behind the word. His voice gives power, Ps 107:20, to the word. He sends the word, Ps 107:20, and His word does what it is sent to do, Is 55:11. He is the power behind the word that makes the word powerful, Ps 29:5 says *The voice of the Lord is powerful; the voice of the Lord is full of majesty.*

So, the name of God and the word of God are one.

However, the following are why God magnifies His word above His name.

First, when God is silent, we often conclude He is not there or is not answering us. So, the word of God magnifies God before us. His voice tells us He is here. It tells us of His presence. So where the word of God is God is present.

The word of God spoken remains our absolute assurance of God's presence, Gen 28:11-18, 1 Kgs 19:11-13.

Second, what makes and tells us about who God is, His attribute and character is His word.

His word is true. We know Him to be God by the truth He speaks. He is trustable, trustworthy, reliable, and faithful. He is distinctive by the words He speaks.

Third, the word of God distinguishes God from gods.

People know the supremacy of God and His word, though they resist the truth.

There are deities referred to as gods, and each deity is referred to as a god.

When vocalized, the name god and God are pronounced the same, but what differentiates the two is the word spoken by each.

God can not lie, but humans lie Rom 3:, and so also their gods.

Fourth, the agelessless of God.

Many gods had once existed in human form, but God is ageless and lives forever.

While there is a god for whatever people could find, there is only one God, supreme and sovereign over all things.

Even the heathen subject themselves to God and know there is only one supreme God, John 9:31.

The word of God has been from the beginning with the Word.

The agelessless of God distinguishes Him from gods. John says in John 1:1-2

*In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.*

*The same was in the beginning with God.*

Fifth, the children of men created gods. They carved woods into idols.

God created the children of men and the world and all therein by His word.

God was not created. He has been from the beginning. Paul says in Col 1:16 *For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:*

Though humans may make themselves gods, Ps 82:6, humans are God's creation and under God, Ps 82:6.

Some religions that do not believe in the name of Jesus do admit that there is a supreme God who is a true and righteous God according to His word.

The problem they have is that though they claim to believe there is a supreme God, they do not know Him.

If they truly know God, they will know Jesus.

James says the devil trembles, and he believes Jam 2:19. This tells us that he believes God's word is true, but he is rebellious against God. It tells us that the devil does not submit himself to God, but he believes and trembles at His word. The same way his agents are.

So God exalts His word over His name is to make us know that the name of God is not any less important than the word He speaks.

His name is as important as His word. It is to tell us the supremacy of God by what He says.

His word is not the word of man, 1 Cor 4:20 *".....but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power:.....That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.*, 1 Cor 2:4-5.

By this, His word differentiates God from the children of men and gods.

His word is life, John 6:63, Is 9:8.

*Remorse corner.*

God is distinctive. His word can not lie. So since the children of men can lie, whatsoever they create will lie, and so are the gods they create.

Rom 3:4. *God forbid: yea, let God be true, but every man a liar; as it is written, That thou mightest be justified in thy sayings, And mightest overcome when thou art judged.*

*Call to Word action.*

God can not lie but the children of men who create gods can lie. Those who create idols are like the idols themselves.

Psalm 115:8 *They that make them are like unto them; so is every one that trusteth in them.*

*The Christian clarion duty.*

The word of God is God in power.

*Prayer.*

Lord, send Your word to me when l call in Jesus name.

Good morning all and have a blessed day.

God bless you.
