*Scripture Commentaries.*
Athaliah presumed to mean 'God is exalted" did not live a life that exalted God. It can not be clear what this name really means because there was nothing in the life of this woman that exalted the Lord. In fact, she dealt
ruthlessly and violently with the name of the Lord.
The daughter of Ahab and Jezebel, Athaliah remains one of the most wicked, extremely callous, sadistic serial killers recorded in the scriptures.
A mass killer, and second to none, one who derived thrill, satisfaction, and comfort killing royal seeds.
Though she married Jeroham, son of one of Judah's best God-fearing kings, Jehoshaphat, she remains forever a failure to motherhood along with her mother, Jezebel. The Bible records some failures by mothers in the scriptures, but Athaliah, Herodias, and Jezebel will ever remain criminally unmatched where and when evil is mentioned.
Queen Athaliah, as she was known, because she was the only woman recorded as having reigned as a monarch within Israel/Judah.
Athaliah was recorded to have committed widespread genocide of the remaining members of the Davidic dynasty in revenge for her son's (Ahaziah) death. Her son had ruled for one year.
She did this in order to ensure the seed of David did not inherit the throne.
One surving seed of David, Athaliah's grandson, was crowned king. Unknown to her, her grandson Joash (son of Athaliah's son, Ahaziah) was abducted from among the king's sons who were to be killed and hidden by his nurse in the bedroom. They did this so that he would be hidden from Athaliah's massacre. Joash was hidden and raised in the Temple for six years while Athaliah reigned as queen over the land.
When he reached seven years of age, Jehoiada, the priest, crowned him king, ensuring all necessary protection for the young King Joash.
Athaliah rushed to the Temple crying treason, but the royal guards seized and killed her.
She reigned for six years until she was overthrown and killed.
Athaliah, in bitterness over her son's death, purposed that no one else would be king, but God preserved the throne for Joash.
She was an extremely callous and sadistic serial killer.
That a woman who was mentally fit could behave in a manner often associated with people of diminished responsibility, Athaliah became an example of a cold-blooded and insensitive person who did not care for the lives of others.
Ataliah possessed the capacity to premeditate, deliberate, or form the specific intent to kill.
She could resist her impulse to kill. She was in control of her actions, which she knew were wrong.
A mother and grandmother who was meant to influence her domain positively as a God-fearing mother influencer, influenced murder, genocide and widespread fear that gripped a nation for six dreadful years.
The obsessive behavior to kill, retaliation, and an uncontrollable appetite for totalitarian power are examples of the indulgence that summed up the life of Athaliah.
While it is good to influence your child for leadership, avoid influencing them to take leadership by force or crook.
How are you influencing your child?
*Remorse corner.*
There was nothing better to do for Athaliah than to eliminate her.
Avoid bad influencers in your life.
*Call to Word action.*

*"that godless men should not rule or lay snares for the people."*, Job 34:30.
*Prayer.*
Lord, help me not to be self-indulgent with wrong motives that will disconnect me from righteousness. Let me not influence people with bad motives and habits, in Jesus name.
Good morning all, and have a blessed day.
God bless you.
