*WISDOM FOR TODAY.*
*DO NOT GIVE ROOM TO SATAN.(7)*
*Scripture Treasure.*
Rev 3:20 *Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.*
*Insight and Highlight.*
There is a strong call for everyone to keep guard over the door of their hearts.
*Scripture Commentaries.*
Jesus' word that He *".... stands at the door and knock....."* and God's word to Cain that *".....sin lieth at the door."* both teach us of how well Jesus teaches us of safeguarding the doors of our hearts.
Jesus' word respects our privacy while sin
that *".....lieth at the door....."* tresspasses and may or invade, intimidate and trespasses our privacy.
Anyone who comes to your door and knock waiting to hear your voice whether you will or not open has behaved
honourably and deserves honour in return.
However, anyone who lies at your door doing nothing will either scare you when you open the door or may seize any opportunity, as it may arise, to get in when the door is opened.
The door of our hearts must not be left opened at anytime. Only a person with a clean heart would knock to get your attention.
It teaches us that Jesus is not an authoritarian Leader/Saviour.
Though Jesus gives us life as living soul, He still reserves the honour given us to guide the doors of our hearts, Prov 4:23 and gives us the moral choice to let in whomsoever we choose.
If we fail to carefully guard the door of our hearts, sin which is crouching at the door could enter and take possession as a thief would come to a house that its door is unguarded and opened.
Jesus teaches us using the parable of the house owner securing his property to prevent thieves from entering his house.
He also used the illustration of those who might think they would have reasons to make good their evil on the Day of Judgment. Jesus teaches that the door will be shut against them.
The following verses illustrate this further.
Luke 12:39 says *And this know, that if the goodman of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched, and not have suffered his house to be broken through.*
In Lk 13:25 *When once the master of the house is risen up, and hath shut to the door, and ye begin to stand without, and to knock at the door, saying, Lord, Lord, open unto us; and he shall answer and say unto you, I know you not whence ye are:*
Matt 24:43 says *".....if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up."*
In the above verses, Jesus emphasizes the master securing his property to emphasize the importance spiritual security, readiness and vigilance.
Remember John 10:7-9
*Then said Jesus unto them again, Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep.*
*All that ever came before me are thieves and robbers: but the sheep did not hear them.*
*I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.*
Do not allow the Door to stay too long at your door. Let Him come in. When He does, there will be no room for Satan!
*Remorse corner.*
God Himself is a guard who protects His "house" (temple/people) from invaders, so protect the door of your heart from sin that *"......lieth at the door....."*
*Call to Word action.*
Zechariah 9:8 *And I will encamp about mine house because of the army, because of him that passeth by, and because of him that returneth: and no oppressor shall pass through them any more: for now have I seen with mine eyes.*
*The Christian clarion duty.*
The parables about the householder and the shut door signify the importance of spiritual control, separating those who would knock from those who may hide or lie- in-wait wanting to forcefully enter.
*Prayer.*
Lord, help me to safely guard the door of my heart. Help me to hear Your voice when you knock. Let me not open to *"...... thieves and robbers......"* in Jesus name.
Good morning all, and have a blessed day.
God bless you.
Shalom.
