*DO NOT GIVE ROOM TO SATAN.(4)*

*Scripture Treasure.*

Eph 4:27 *Neither give place to the devil.*

*Insight and Highlight.*

You can give room to Satan, if you talk too much!

*Scripture Commentaries.*

Jesus teaches us how quickly it can be possible that someone could speak and do the heart of God but quickly turn to speak what is not of God.

Peter, in Matt 16:17 spoke the heart of God expressing Christ as the Son of God but soon spoke out of God's plan for Jesus and Jesus rebuked him inferring his as Satan because by his comment he became an offense to Jesus.

Jesus rebuked Peter saying in Matt 16:24,

*Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men.*

How could Peter who once spoke as God revealed to him turn few minutes after to be an offense to Jesus?

When and how did Satan so quickly possess the rein and mindset of a devoted follower?

This teaches us a few things.

First is that Peter talked too much.

James warns us saying Jam 1:19 *Therefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath;*

A very strong quality of a believer is his ability to tame his tongue. Besides the devil's ability to control the minds of his victims, one of his deadliest weapons is the misuse of our tongues.

James calls it *"....an unruly evil, full of deadly poison."*, Jam 3:8.

From the same mouth of Peter came the word of inspiration and from the same came an offense.

It was the same Peter Jesus said

*And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat:* Lk 22:31.

You can give room to Satan when you talk too much.

When you talk too much, you will sin.

Prov 10:19 *In the multitude of words there wanteth not sin: but he that refraineth his lips is wise.*

You can give room to Satan when you do not think before you speak.

You can give room to Satan when you do not think before you speak.

People of good and reputable standing have offended by their words, for some it was not intentional but some it was.

We must remember that Peter's heart was right towards Christ, but his inability to not accept that you do not have to talk all the time was his major shortcoming.

He was the one who first rebuked Jesus most, he was the one with unguarded tongue and the one Jesus rebuked most.

The things we say is a reflection of what is in out heart, Prov 23:7, Matt 12:34.

Second is that we must know when God has spoken and when Satan has taken over.

We must know when God has stopped talking.

We must be careful that Satan does not control our thoughts.

Anything that is not of the Father is Satanic. Compare the words of Jesus to Peter in Matt 16:17 *".....for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven."*.

Compared to Matt 16:23 *Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men.*

Listen and ponder, before you talk or else you will give room to Satan!

*Remorse corner.*

Anytime you talk, the devil is looking for a way to make you an offense by the things you say.

*Call to Word action.*

You can pray!

Psalm 141:3 *Set a watch, O LORD, before my mouth; keep the door of my lips.*

*The Christian clarion duty.*

You do not have to talk all the time. There are times when silence is golden. If you must say something, let your utterance be according to the Lord's leading

*Prayer.*

Lord help me according to Col 4:6 *Let your speech be alway with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man.* in Jesus name.
