*WISDOM FOR TODAY.*
ANOINTING (6)*
*Scripture Treasure.*
Judges 16:20
*And she said, The Philistines be upon thee, Samson. And he awoke out of his sleep, and said, I will go out as at other times before and shake myself. And he wist not that the Lord was departed from him.*
*Insight and Highlight.*
The Spirit, though filled Samson from his mother's womb, was no longer absolute when his loose life reached a point of no return.
*Scripture Commentaries.*
Yesterday, we looked at one of two reasons why an anointed like Saul, David, would misbehave in spite of their anointing?
One of the reasons was cited as the the need to know that as we have to put our body under after our new birth, it is also the same that after we are anointed, we must keep a life of holiness to maintain the anointing.
Today, we will look at the second reason.
The second reason is that anointing is a gift. The gift gives you the ability. The calling gives you identity, and anointing gives you power and purpose.
Anointing is a gift of God.
We can look at anointing in the same way as spiritual gifts.
Anointing could be described as given without strings attached; it is not earned.
It is a gift, just like salvation.
Ephesians 2:8-9 says, *"For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:*
*Not of works, lest any man should boast.*
God never gave anybody anointing or gifts because they deserved them.
This is why a person endured with power that he did not earn may often abuse it as a free gift.
We often do not appreciate free gifts, but we appreciate what we earned by our hard work.
When we receive what we do not deserve from God, we always feel it is God who needs us, not that we need Him.
So, working to keep what we have, though not deserved. may not be as painstaking or deserve commitment than what we sweated and worked hard to have.
It is painful to give a gift that is not appreciated.
Not to say some who fall do not appreciate the free gift, but why do the works of the flesh seem to prevail?
Immorality begets pleasure, ref Job 20:4-8, Heb 11:25
There are gains of unrighteousness and people work in the day and night, wickedly, to earn themselves prosperity, Micah 2:1.
Hamaan and his conspirators in Esther 3:7 sought to plan to kill the Jews for twelve months.
This may be why Paul referred to evil vices worked by the wicked as the 'works' of the flesh, Gal 5:19-21.
We must work to keep our anointing alive, ref Philpns 2:12.
A life of anointing loosely lived can lead to the loss of anointing.
*Remorse corner*
The anointing we receive may attimes work sideways forces militating against its success. Life's accidents are the devil's trap to destroy the anointing.
*Call to Word action.*
Anointing is predetermined by God.
Rom 8:30
*Moreover, whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.*
*The Christian clarion duty.*
Your anointing is predetermined by God. It is not by accident, so you should not lose it to life's accidents!
*Prayer.*
Lord, please do not let me lose my anointing to life's accidents.
*I shall be anointed with fresh oil* in Jesus name.

Psalm 92:10 *But my horn shalt thou exalt like the horn of an unicorn: I shall be anointed with fresh oil.*
