*WISDOM FOR TODAY.*
*IGNORANCE (2).*
*Scripture Treasure.*
Prov 15:14 *The heart of him that hath understanding seeketh knowledge: but the mouth of fools feedeth on foolishness.*
*Insight and Highlight.*
Selective knowledge can lead to incomplete and biased awareness and understanding.
*Scripture Commentaries.*
We must not be choosy or picky when it comes to knowledge.
We must open up ourselves to information that will develop our awareness of the changing world around us.
Today, we shall be looking at the second type of ignorance that can arise when someone intentionally neglects vital information given him for reason of lack of interest.
Solomon tells us in Proverbs 18:15 that *An intelligent heart acquires knowledge, and the ear of the wise seeks it out.*
This form of ignorance can be described as educated ignorance.
It is often used to describe people who are educated but lack interest or close their minds to new ideas from, possibly, laymen or people who are not as educated as they are. We must be careful of situations where the more educated we are, the more ignorant we become.
This is willful ignorance displayed by educated people.
This can also occur where the more education people have, the more ignorant they may be due to a tendency to assume they know more than they actually do.
Ahab and Jehoshaphat, Kings of Israel and Judah, respectively, went to war in
Ramothgilead against Syria. Ahab was persuaded by Jehoshaphat in what turned out to be an unholy association, which almost caused Jehoshaphat's death.
Jehoshaphat knew of true prophets who could give them reliable spiritual foresight.
Ahab also had prophets, but they gave him prophecies he wanted to hear, though they were false. Only Micaiah gave the true prophecy.
Ahab ignored the prophecy of Micaiah, who gave a word of knowledge that he would lose the war. His deliberate neglect of Micaiah's prophecy resulted in his death.
Ahab undermined Micaiah's prophecy. He despised it so much that he ordered him to be put in *"......prison, and feed him with bread of affliction and with water of affliction,.......*" 2 Chron 18:1-34.
Both kings knew the importance of going to war with foreknowledge through spiritual insight, but they deliberately ignored.
Solomon tells us in Prov 22:3 and 27:12 that those who are wise and foresightful take precautions to avoid danger, while those who are naive or foolish continue on their path and experience the consequences.
Ignorance, whether uneducated, unlearned, or educated ignorance as aforementioned, is a leveler in both categories. This is because the ultimate consequences in both cases are fatal.
Those who are ignorant can not be wise. Neither knowledge nor wisdom is present in their lives.
Prov 4:7 says, *Wisdom is supreme; so acquire wisdom. And with all your acquiring, get understanding.*
Prov 2:6 says, *For the LORD gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding.*
Do not neglect God in your craving for knowledge. This is when grief and sorrow set in.
The story of the mad man of Gadarene tells us how the devil can manipulate good senses to bad and make people of understanding to become people of no knowledge, Matt 8:28-34, Mk 5:1-20, and Lk 8:26-39.
Being educated does not automatically mean you are wise or perfectly literate if you fail to develop an approach to further develop yourself.
Strive for a balanced and open-minded approach to knowledge.
*Remorse corner.*
Be willing to receive and update yourself on new information.
*Call to Word action.*
Recognize your limitations. Strive to know where you are lacking essential knowledge.
*The Christian clarion duty.*
Reinforce your existing faith by studying and acquiring more knowledge of God's word. Remember God as you search for intellectual wisdom and knowledge.
*Prayer.*
Lord, help me never to refuse vital information. Let me not be biased and incomplete in understanding Your word and the world around me, in Jesus name.
Good morning all, and have a blessed day.
God bless you.
Shalom.
