2 Kgs 3: 26-27 And when the king of Moab saw that the battle was too sore for him, he took with him seven hundred men that drew swords, to break through even unto the king of Edom: but they could not.
Then he took his eldest son that should have reigned in his stead and offered him for a burnt offering upon the wall. And there was great indignation against Israel: and they departed from him, and returned to their own land.

Scripture Commentaries
The king of Moab unleashed a terror that turned the course of a seemingly lost battle to a win for himself.
The scriptures record in 2 Kgs 3:27 " ...there was great indignation against lsrael..."
The armies of Israel were winning. 2 Kgs 3:25 says "...they went forward smiting the Moabites, even in their country
They, however, withdrew in a hasty retreat.
The tables suddenly turned against them when the wrath of the Moabites army subdued them.
The change in the battle was presumably the result of the human sacrifice offered to the demonic power behind Chemosh.
The power is unleashed in the spiritual realm by the blood sacrifice of the eldest son of the king of Moab.
From the narratives, it appeared the blood sacrifices offered to demonic powers empowered the Moabites to do battle more effectively against the spiritual forces of the Lord.
This explains, as in Eph 6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
The believer must be fully prepared to ask for God's help in warfare. Luke 11:20 But if I with the finger of God cast out devils, no doubt the kingdom of God is come upon you.
How a heathen king could quickly swift to such a device in the middle of a battle to snatch victory is a wake up call to every believer to be watchful, vigilant, prayerful. The Christian must be at alert before, during, and after warfare.
The Christian must leave no stone unturned, strive, using all spiritual weapons available in order to finish strong, 2 Tim 4:7.
Remorse corner
Whatever the devil offers or victory he gets is temporary. His power must never be sought after, his agents of wickedness must never be envied neither should anyone seek his powers for anything.
Proverbs 24:1 Be not thou envious against evil men, neither desire to be with them.
Call to Word
Come what may, the devil will lose. Jeremiah 48:42 tells us And Moab shall be destroyed from being a people because he hath magnified himself against the Lord.
The Christian clarion duty
Matt 28:18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
All power belongs to God. Seek God's power!

1 John 4:4 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world, in Jesus name.
