BE DISCIPLINED

Updated: Dec 10, 2021

Hebrews 12:9 Furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh which corrected us, and we gave them reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live?

Insight and Highlight

Malachi 1:6 A son honoureth his father, and a servant his master: if then I am a father, where is mine honor? and if I am a master, where is my fear? saith the LORD of hosts unto you, O priests, that despise my name. And ye say, Wherein have we despised thy name?

Scripture Commentaries

Our scripture of today draws the contrast between our natural parents and "the Father of spirits", Heb 12:9. God rebuked His people for not giving honor to Him as they did their natural parents.

So also in Malachi 1:6, God recognizes and endorses a servant to master followership in obedience

In John 15:20, Jesus says "...the servant is not greater than his lord...."

Great servant-hearted men are traceable to ministerially acclaimed fathers-in-the Lord or well interpreted as mentors.

God told Joshua, There shall not any man be able to stand before thee all the days of thy life: as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee: I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee Joshua 1:5.

The Apostle Paul's writing to Titus identified some people in Titus 1:10 For there are many unruly and vain talkers and deceivers, especially those of the circumcision: They were Jewish followers.

In Titus 1:16, he says about them They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate.

These people had the opportunity to sit and learn but the more they were taught, the less they learned to heart.

Whatever we profess without possessing knowledge of, is like having the label without the contents and clouds without rain.

Remember, whosoever you follow in ministry will determine what follows you!

Remorse corner

A disciple with a father will go farther in the life of ministry

Call to Word action

1 Corinthians 4:17  For this reason I have sent to you Timothy, my son whom I love, who is faithful in the Lord. He will remind you of my way of life in Christ Jesus, which agrees with what I teach everywhere in every church.

The Christian clarion duty

Every leader seeks a disciple and he finds one whose heart has been seeking ministerial mentoring.

Acts 16:1 Paul came to Derbe and then to Lystra, where he found a disciple named Timothy, the son of a believing Jewish woman and a Greek father.

The Christian clarion duty

Paul said of Timothy "....my own..."

1 Timothy 1:2 Unto Timothy, my own son in the faith: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God our Father and Jesus Christ our Lord

Prayer

Jeremiah 12:2 You planted them, and they have taken root. They have grown and produced fruit. You are ever on their lips, but far from their hearts.

Lord, as You have planted me, so let me take root. As You are ever on my lips, so ever be in my heart, in Jesus' name.

Good morning all and be blessed as you come into His presence, in Jesus' name.

God bless you.
