SIN DROVE IN THE NAILS

Updated: Nov 18, 2021

1 John 2:2 My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:

And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.

Insight and Highlight

John 19:33-34 But when they came to Jesus and saw that He was already dead, they did not break His legs.

Instead, one of the soldiers pierced His side with a spear, and immediately blood and water flowed out.

Scripture Commentaries

The scriptures chronicle events leading to Christ's death on the cross.

To believers of all ages, the bible teaches us, giving more emphasis on what nailed Jesus to the cross rather than who nailed Him.

The Christian must note for salvation and post salvation that he is not so much concerned about who crucified Christ but be concerned about what brought about His crucifixion.

Christ was condemned under Roman law, was crucified by the Roman soldiers but for our sins are the subject matter of his death on the cross and its propitiatory work.

Sin drove in the nails, He became sin on the cross, no wonder the Father whose eyes are so pure that they cannot behold iniquity, forsook Him, Hab 1:13, Matt 27:14.

Love took the nails out, Rom 5:8, 10, 2 Cor 5:19

Christ died, not for us only, but also for the whole world.

As you go today, remember and be concerned about what "killed" Jesus (i.e..our sins) rather than who killed Him (the Roman soldier).

Remember that the wages of sin is death(Rom 6:23), remembering this truth will make you free, John 8:32.

Are you willing to be free?

Flee from all appearances of evil.

Remorse corner

For our sins, God did not only give Christ to us, Christ offered Himself and Christ became the Offering Himself Rom 8:3, Heb 7:27

Call to Word action

Are you willing to be free?

Flee from all youthful lusts.

2 Timothy 2:22 Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.

The Christian clarion duty

1 Thess 5:22 Abstain from all appearance of evil.

Prayer

1 John 3:9 Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.

Lord, help me in Jesus' name.

Good morning all and be blessed as you go today.

God bless you.
