....THOU ART THE MAN

Updated: Mar 16, 2022

2 Samuel 12:7 And Nathan said to David, Thou art the man. Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, I anointed thee king over Israel, and I delivered thee out of the hand of Saul.

Insight and Highlight

How often we wished we are better than others yet we are worse.

Scripture Commentaries

The book of Judges concludes its chronicles by defining one of the most applicable resumes known to the children of men. Judges 21:25 says "In those days there was no king in Israel: every man did that which was right in his own eyes"

With this scripture in mind, one could conclude that the human mind will "do what is right in their own eyes to the detriment of others".

King David was furious at the parabolic narratives of Prophet Nathan not knowing the atrocious character was representative of him.

He was quick to say "As the Lord liveth, the man that hath done this thing shall surely die: And he shall restore the lamb fourfold, because he did this thing, and because he had no pity."

Nathan rebuked him saying "You are the man...."

Just as we have people like David, quick to condemn so also we have those who once confronted with their flaws, confess and repent. David said after Nathan told him he was the man "...l have sinned against the LORD....", 2 Sam 12:13. This was a decisive moment. Nathan said ....The Lord also hath put away thy sin; thou shalt not die.", 2 Sam 12:13.

If you are the "man", you can change and be a "man" when you own up to your sin.

Confess and repent, today!

Remorse corner

Most times, often than not, there are people who will not do what is right for you. They will only do what is best for themselves...but how will you feel when you are treated this way?

Call to Word action

The nature to be selfish is with us, be not selfish. You cannot hide from God.

The Christian clarion duty

To justify themselves, some people usually do or say the opposite of what they mean.

Prayer

Lord, help me to own up to my sins, seek and receive your forgiveness, in Jesus name.

Good morning all and have a blessed day today.

God bless you.
