ARE YOU EXPECTING A HARVEST?

Updated: Nov 17, 2021

Haggai 2:19 Is the seed yet in the barn? yea, as yet the vine, and the fig tree, and the pomegranate, and the olive tree, hath not brought forth: from this day will I bless you.

Insight and Highlight

Just like the farmer, every believer has a seed. Some however eat their seed, some store or hoard (i.e keep their seed in the barn) and it ends up decay, while some sow to reap a harvest (because they got their seed out of the barn).

Scripture Commentaries

Every believer who sows, must expect a harvest.

The harvest is always greater than the seed planted or sown.

The principle of sowing and reaping has no bounds: if you sow in corruption you shall reap same, if you sow in righteousness, you shall reap same, Gal 6:8.

So also what we harvest in resources/money is also dependent on what we sow, 2 Cor 9:6.

There are reasons why people do not have harvest.

First, God may be at war with them, Mal 3:9, Hag 1:11, 2:17

Second, they may have planted but what they planted is inconsistent with what they earned, Mal 1:6

Third, they may have eaten the seed they ought to have sown, 1 Kgs 17:8-24, Eccl 11:6, 2 Cor 9:10.

Fourth, some have their seed but they hoard, it. They keep it to themselves and fail to sow. They fail to give to help others or share with others, Luke 12:13-21.

Is your seed sown or kept back into your storehouse instead of God's?

Are you waiting for a harvest? Get your seed out of the barn! Plant, sow, (while not neglecting yourself and family), so that you may receive your bountiful harvest.

Remorse corner

If the time you should harvest has come and gone, do a self examination to evaluate if you have sown enough to expect a harvest, or maybe you did not plant or sow when you ought to.

Call to Word action

There is no one who has sown in the Kingdom that God has ever forgotten, Haggai 2:19 "....from this day will I bless you.

The Christian clarion duty

Though you may not have yet harvested what you have sown, though your olive trees have not produced their crops, God says, He will bless you., Haggai 2:19; Prov 10:3, Psalm 37:19.

As a sower, thank God when harvest has not come,, trusting and knowing He will come to you with a boutiful harvest: Hab 317-19.

Prayer

2 Cor 9:10 Now he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness.

Lord let me not eat the seed you provided me to sow, in Jesus name.

Good morning all and have a blessed day.

God bless you.
