TOO FAMILIAR WITH GOD?

Updated: May 23, 2021

Proverbs 8:17 ► l love them that love me; and those that seek me early shall find me.

Insight and Highlight John 6:37 ► All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out. Scripture Commentaries To choose to walk with God or be invited to do so by God is the right God gives to everyone. However, since the whole world lies in wickedness, ref 1 John 5:19, it has become a privilege given to a few who chose to come to Him, John 6:37. It is good to be familiar with God and He opens doors for such familiarity: Numbers 12:8 ► With him will I speak mouth to mouth, even apparently, and not in dark speeches; and the similitude of the LORD shall he behold: Even God loves us to enter into a familiar relationship with Him. John 15:15 ► Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you. Jer 31:1 ► At the same time, saith the Lord, will I be the God of all the families of Israel, and they shall be my people. We must however avoid abusing the privilege afforded us through our relationship with God. God is not like us, we are created to be like Him. Never be too overly confident that you know God more than He knows you. David in all His life tried very much not to say words that would amount to pride against God. He was an example of a perfect man who will not offend God with his words, Ps 141:3-4, Jam 3:2. Though a repeated offender yet he was always quick to know that the only sacrifice to God is "...a broken and contrite heart..." ref Ps 51:17 His ever reverent repentant submission to God's judgment is unmatched and he never charged God as unfair. Remorse corner Do not take undue advantage of an honorable familiarity. Call to Word action Familiarity breeds contempt, ref John 4:44 ► For Jesus himself testified, that a prophet hath no honour in his own country. Matthew 13:57 ► And they were offended in him. But Jesus said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, save in his own country, and in his own house. The Christian clarion duty If you abuse an honorable familiarity, you will lose what is familiarly beneficial to you. Matthew 13:58 ► And he did not many mighty works there because of their unbelief. Prayer Let me not abuse your grace. Let me not be high-minded, but fear you, in Jesus name. Good morning all and have a blessed day. God bless you.
