SEEK THE FIRE(6)

Acts 5 ►1-11 ► But a certain man named Ananias, with Sapphira his wife, sold a possession,

And kept back part of the price, his wife also being privy to it, and brought a certain part, and laid it at the apostles' feet.

But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back part of the price of the land?

"...why hast thou conceived this thing in thine heart? thou hast not lied unto men, but unto God.

And Ananias hearing these words fell down, and gave up the ghost: and great fear came on all them that heard these things.

"... when his wife,...came in.

"....Then Peter said unto her, How is it that ye have agreed together to tempt the Spirit of the Lord?

Then fell she down straightway at his feet, and yielded up the ghost:..."

And great fear came upon all the church, and upon as many as heard these things.

Scripture Commentaries

The story of Ananias and Sapphira is a core lesson to all believers of all ages.

It is a sad end to the lives who had experienced sharing with others but failed to share their own with others. They "rushed and were crushed".

The sudden death of the couple, must have been a rather disappointing and embarrassment time for Peter, the early Apostles and the early church.

The comfort of the Holy Spirit and the fire kept the Church in the midst of these storms. It held the church together and stronger because ".....fear came upon all the church, and upon as many as heard these things. ► Acts 5:11.

Fire of the Holy Ghost in us, helps us to weather storms.

In the story of Ananias and Sapphira, we can see believers are interdependent.

The same Holy Ghost fire is a promise to all

generations to come ref Acts 2:39 ► "... For the promise is unto you, and to your children,...

We all share in God's attributes and He also freely gives us all things, Rom 8:32.

People share and receive God's power in you through your impartation, knowing no bounds: 1 Cor 1:24 ► But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God.

Be an accelerant through which the fire will spread to others.

Seek the fire, or better still seek more of it!

May the Lord set you on fire for Him.

Remorse corner

Let us learn to share, pray for others, impact their lives.

Call to Word action

The power cannot be bought with money. It was freely received so will it be freely given, ref Acts 8:20.

Matthew 10:8 ► Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give.

The Christian clarion duty

1 Cor 4:7 ► For who maketh thee to differ from another? and what hast thou that thou didst not receive? now if thou didst receive it, why dost thou glory, as if thou hadst not received it?

Prayer

Lord help me learn to impart into other people's lives what l have received. Let me not make merchandise of Kingdom gifts.
