*Scripture Treasure.*

Joshua 6:1-2

*Now Jericho was straitly shut up because of the children of Israel: none went out, and none came in.*

*And the Lord said unto Joshua, See, I have given into thine hand Jericho, and the king thereof, and the mighty men of valour.*

*Insight and Highlight.*

God wins battles long before He invades the enemy or before the enemy strikes.

*Scripture Commentaries.*

In Joshua 6, Joshua's first major battle was against Jericho in the promised land. As he was about to lead the Israelites to war, he saw the Captain of host, Joshua 5:13-14.

In Gen 27:41, Esau hated Jacob *"....because of the blessing wherewith his father blessed him: and Esau said in his heart, The days of mourning for my father are at hand; then will I slay my brother Jacob.*

In Gen 32:24-32, Jacob was encountered by the presence of an angel whom he wrestled with until the angel pronounced him a prince. He was renamed Israel: who would henceforth *"....have power with God and that with men he has prevailed,"* Gen 32:28.

When Joshua saw the man (Joshua 5:14),

he saw an angel in the name, image, and character of God, and so was the angel that Jacob saw. This was so because Joshua called the angel he saw, Lord.

He said in *".....What saith my Lord unto his servant?*, Joshua 5:15.

It was also the same for Jacob. He called the angel he had an encounter with, God.

He called the name of the place Peniel. He said *...... for I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved.*, Gen 32:30.

At those points in time, the battles ahead of both Joshua and Jacob were already won before they were fought.

Jericho's wall fell down without Israel's use of weapons, Joshua 6:20.

Esau came with four hundred men to fulfill his vowed revenge against Jacob. Esau instead, *"....ran to meet him, and embraced him, and fell on his neck, and kissed him: and they wept."*, Gen 33:4.

God had dealt with Esau overnight. He embraced and wept over Jacob's shoulders, Gen 33:4.

Esau could not perform his wish, ref Job 5:12, though he had his large army.

All battles that God is involved in for His followers are won by His followers standing still.

2 Chr 20:17 *Ye shall not need to fight in this battle: set yourselves, stand ye still, and see the salvation of the LORD with you, O Judah and Jerusalem: fear not, nor be dismayed; to morrow go out against them: for the LORD will be with you.*

Exd 14: 13-14 *And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord, which he will shew to you to day: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen to day, ye shall see them again no more for ever.*

*The Lord shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.*

God is too strong and organized for battle to need anybody's help. He is too strong to be intimidated. He is too powerful to lose.

God is too strong to have anyone fight along with Him in battle.

God is too destructive in battle to have anyone dare or face Him. Psalm 47:2, and Deut 7:21 tell us, He is terrible.

Secure yourself in Him. When you do, your enemies will never outnumber or outorganize you.

*Remorse corner.*

When God arises on your behalf, your enemies are in trouble. Ps 68:1-3.

Isaiah 33:10 says, *Now I will arise, says the LORD; now will I be exalted; now will I lift up myself.*

*Call to Word action.*

When God fights for you, He renders the instruments of the enemy useless.

2 Chronicles 32:8

*With him is an arm of flesh, but with us is the Lord our God, to help us and to fight our battles.” And the people took confidence from the words of Hezekiah king of Judah.*

*The Christian clarion duty.*

1 John 4:4 *Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.*

*Prayer.*

Lord, be my strength, O Lord. Let not my enemies rejoice or triumph over me, in Jesus name.

Good morning all, and have a blessed day.

God bless you.
