*Insight and Highlight.*
Choose to be rich unto God rather than just to yourself.
*Scripture Commentaries.*
Jesus teaches us in the parable of the richman how we often arrogate our successes to just ourselves forgetting there are people who contributed towards them.
He teaches us that when we live like the rich man in this parable, we not only forget those who worked with us and contributed to our success, we forget God who gave the success.
In Luke 20: 17-21 the rich man uses "l" six times and used "my" five times.
He was so carried away that he forgot or failed to remember he did not have power over his tomorrow. He did not acknowledge the God who holds his tomorrow.
He arrogated power over his soul forgetting God the giver of life.
The parable teaches us the negative influence of the power of wealth.
His life was a life of self-centeredness.
It is all about him and nothing about others and God.
He saw himself as someone who could do and undo and the unending enjoyment of his wealth but God told him his life was ending that very night.
We must not live to just focus on ourselves
while neglecting our relationship with others and God.
He earned himself the title 'fool' along with his social status at that time.
When we love what we have more than God, we are challenging God's power to remove them.
We must remember He has holy jealousy, Exd 34:14.
Life is transient. It only lasts for a short time. It is temporary and passes through quickly so do riches.
While God encourages hard work, He discourages overworking to accumulate wealth, noting its fleeting nature.
God does not want our riches to develop wings, Prov 23:4. He teaches the unreliability of physical wealth. The best security to lasting physical wealth is adopting a spiritual relationship with God.
A life of wealth that is not rich onto God is a wasted life. A life that is rich unto God is a life that honours God.
A rich life that honours God can not be a wasted life.
You can be rich spiritually when you proritize your physically wealth unto God.
The parable teaches that your material treasures cannot secure your soul or save it from sudden death. Your spiritual treasure will include your relationship with God and will save you into the eternal destination of heaven.
You can not be rich unto God and not fear God. You can not fear God and not be rich unto Him.
Remember, Luke 12:15.*And he said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man's life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth.*
Are you rich unto God?
To ignore God and cling unto personal treasures against God is covetousness.
Beware of self-indulgence, ignoring God and eternity.
You can be rich unto God!
*Remorse Corner.*
Christ is not against wealth or being successful, but He is against riches that do not honour Him.
*Call to Word action.*
We often arrogate our hardwork to our success forgetting the God of mercy behind our success
Romans 9:16: *So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy.*
*The Christian clarion duty.*
The rich fool ignored God and his own mortality. God showed him that he was wrong to assume he had unlimited time to enjoy his wealth.
*Prayer.*
Lord, help me to have wealth to enjoy life and let me also be rich unto You, in Jesus name.
Good morning all and have a blessed day.
God bless you.
Shalom.
