ON CHRIST...I STAND

Matthew 16:16 ► And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.

Insight and Highlight

We enter into an identity crisis if we are ruled or led by flesh and blood.

Scripture Commentaries

Jesus asked His disciples a profound and fundamental question every believer should ask him/herself.

If Christ were to ask you this same question: "...Whom do men say that I the Son of man am? ► Matt16:13, what would be your answer?

In spite of Christ's sojourn and miracles wrought, people did not know who He was.

Not much about who people said He was, but much more touching would be what His close followers- the disciples would say.

Peter said: "Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. ► Matt16:16.

Could there have been amongst the disciples anyone that would not have confessed that Christ was the Son of the living God, as Peter did?

Methinks they all knew He was the Son of God and that God had a redemption plan and Christ was the plan.

However, one worked with the enemy. His name was Judas. His call was not recorded in the bible but he was chosen, ref John 6:70. From the fall out of Judas, he was not chosen for redemption but that the word of prophecy might be fulfilled.

Christ affirmed this when He said in two verses of scripture:

First, in John 6:70 ► Jesus answered them, Have not I chosen you twelve, and one of you is a devil?

Second John 17:12 ► "..and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be fulfilled.

In the Kingdom today as it was then, there are people called for redemption and there are those called to fulfill the prophecy of destruction, violence, confusion, etc..

These people are called to fulfill

First that, "...the Kingdom of God will suffer violence.." ► Matt 11:12

Second to fulfill prophecies as agents of gates of hell but the "....gates of hell shall not prevail....." ► Matthew 16:18.

Many are called but only those who fulfill God's plan will be chosen for redemption.

Those, like Judas, called but who sold themselves to Satan are chosen for destruction.

The decision of whom you choose to follow will determine if you are chosen for redemption or to fulfill a prophecy of destruction.

Are you in Christ alone or there is a third party?

Remorse corner

Though Judas was a disciple of Christ, however, Christ was not a Solid Rock to him neither was he standing in Christ.

You can be close to Christ yet be far. If flesh and blood rule you, you become a slave to the flesh and alienated from the Spirit.

Call to Word action

Flesh and blood do speak with a man's voice but be led by the Spirit.

The Christian clarion duty

Paul said in Gal 1:16 ► ".....immediately I conferred not with flesh and blood:"

Flesh and blood are arch enemies of the Spirit, ref Gal 5:17.

If you are ruled by them, Christ cannot be your Solid Rock neither can you stand in Him alone.

Prayer

Lord, may l confess you all the days of my life as Lord and personal Saviour.

In Christ Alone, l stand, in Jesus name.

Good morning all and have been blessed as we come into His presence.

God bless you.
