.....NEITHER SLUMBER NOR SLEEP

*WISDOM FOR TODAY.*

*.....NEITHER SLUMBER NOR SLEEP.*

*Scripture Treasure.*

Ps 127:4:*Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep.*

*Insight and Highlight.*

Ps 127:2 *It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows: for so he giveth his beloved sleep.*

*Scripture Commentaries.*

Among several of God's unique attributes, which He does not share with any of His creations, sleeplessness remains an attribute that further explains that God does not close His eyes.

The tendency of anyone to close his eyes to sleep explains a weary, weak, tired soul

There are a few reasons why God has chosen not to slumber nor sleep or share His sleeplessness with any of His creations, be it humans, animals, and insects.

First, God knows we need to sleep for the reason of our good health, good rest, Eccl 5:12 *The sleep of a labouring man is sweet, whether he eat little or much..."*

When we work hard, we need enjoyable and restful sleep.

Second, God gives us sleep as His children and for our pleasure. Psalm 127:2 says ,*"...for so he giveth his beloved sleep.*

Solomon warns that some people deprive themselves of sleep because of their abundance. Eccl 5:12b *"....but the abundance of the rich man permits him no sleep.* Eccl 5:12b.

To this, God warns us that we ought not deprive ourselves of good sleep for no reason.

Third, God gives us sleep so that we can rest and also for our protection. Another reason why God neither slumber nor sleep is found in the fact that the devil takes advantage of our sleep in order to harm us. So God chose to neither slumber nor sleep.

Matt 13:25 tells us that we are most vulnerable and open to Satanic attacks when we sleep. There are many evils that occur when the children of men sleep. *But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat and went his way.*

Psalm 3:5 *I laid me down and slept; I awaked; for the LORD sustained me.*

God can protect and sustain us when we fall asleep any time of the day because He neither sleeps nor slumber.

Psalm 4:8 says that when we lay down, there is peace in our soul and safety.

Fourth, that God neither slumber nor sleeps, tells us He can see everything at any time. Darkness is light to Him.

He can see the works of Satan and his demons even in the night.

His ability to remain sleepless explains His attributes as the all-knowing, all-seeing, all-present, and as God who lives forever more.

Fifth, God does use our sleep to communicate with us.

Job 33:15 says when deep sleep falls upon us, we dream, we see visions.

Job 33:16 says God then opens *"....,the ears of men, and sealeth their instruction,*

A few other examples are; Jacob received divine instructions through a dream, Gen 30 and 31.

Joseph received a predestined revelation of his destiny in life, Gen 37.

Pharaoh received a revelation about the future of Egypt and the destination of Israel through dreams, Gen 41.

We are guaranteed safety anytime we sleep because God does not sleep.

Are you not glad that God neither slumbers nor sleeps?

*Remorse corner.*

No urgency or deadline should replace good sleep.

*Call to Word action.*

Ps 127:2 *It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows: for so he giveth his beloved sleep.*

*The Christian clarion duty.*

God's sleeplessness is one of His many attributes that explains why you woke up this morning.

Only God can ever be God!

Only God can ever be Christ!

*Prayer.*

Lord, l thank You because You keep me. You neither slumber nor sleep.

Thank You, Jesus, in Jesus name.

Good morning all and have a blessed day.

God bless you.
