DIVINE IMPUNITY (2)(A sequel to May 15, 2021)

2 Sam 7:12-15 ► "...I will set up thy seed after thee, which shall proceed out of thy bowel...and I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever.

I will be his father, and he shall be my son. If he commits iniquity, I will chasten him with the rod of men, and with the stripes of the children of men:"

Insight and Highlight

Psalm 89:35-36 ► Once have I sworn by my holiness that I will not lie unto David.

His seed shall endure forever, and his throne as the sun before me.

Scripture Commentaries

Psalm 89:27 ► "Also I will make him my firstborn, higher than the kings of the earth.

David became God's "Golden boy", a boy after His heart, 1 Sam 13:14, Acts 13:22.

God made him very successful and was much admired, though, of a rugged look, David retained a pedigree of graceful ease and favor from God.

By his standard, kings were measured.

Personal honesty, integrity, decency of undivided worship and praise to God, one must emphasize that David was second to none both as a shepherd boy as a king.

Though David may have equals as scripture attributes some book of Psalms to other writers and psalmists, certainly he had no superior on the score of sacred and benevolent worship to God.

When worship and praise are involved, David was void of sacrilege, he never bowed to one idol all the days of his life.

As far as God was concerned, a man like David took God a search, He found him, and He anointed him with holy oil.

God tied and committed Himself to an unending favor and a heart to spare David.

Remorse corner

Those whom God finds through a search by Himself will He not despise, though they are wounded, He will heal, restore and perpetuate mercy in their lives.

Call to Word action

An unsearchable judgment that may not find an explanation, one that makes God unquestionable, just and perfect in all His ways: He spared a murderer in David, yet judged a disobedient Saul to death, ref 2 Sam 12:13, 1 Chro 10:12-13, Hosea 13:11

The Christian clarion duty

Live to please God.

Prayer

Lord choose me not in your wrath. Choose me in your mercy. Spare me of your wrath, do not cut me off as "the foam upon the water, in Jesus name. (ref Hosea 10:7)

Good morning all and have a blessed day.

God bless you.
