1 Sam 21:3-6 ► "Now therefore what is under thine hand? give me five loaves of bread in mine hand, or what there is present.
And the priest answered David, and said, There is no common bread under mine hand, but there is hallowed bread;...."
So the priest gave him hallowed bread: for there was no bread there but the shewbread, that was taken from before the Lord, to put hot bread in the day when it was taken away.

Psalm 91:15 ► ..... I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him.
Scripture Commentaries
God's ways are only known to Him, Acts 15:18.
He spares one yet punishes the other. In seemingly horrifying inhumane treatment we considered to merit a fiercer judgment, He gave grace to live, in another, He denied the privilege to live.
Divine impunity is given to some, which exempts them from punishment or gives them freedom from the fierce anger of God.
David mostly benefitted from God's exemption.
Though he suffered some untold hardship and predicaments, his life was spared all the times of his life. People died when David sinned. In his place, scores of people suffered greatly, ref 1 Chron 21:14, 2 Sam 12:13.
David ate shewbread meant for priests. God overlooked the times when the offices of Priests, Prophets, and Kings are separated and no tolerance for violation. Jesus came later to corroborate David's action in Mark 2:25-26.
His life was enviable in this respect.
Mercy and grace did extraordinary works of impunity in a man who killed most. A record unmatched in biblical history.
God said of him in 1 Chroni 22:8 ► But the word of the LORD came to me, saying, Thou hast shed blood abundantly, and hast made great wars:...."
Remorse corner
We must seek the God of solution before seeking the solution, 1 Sam 13:14.
David knew the God of solutions, little wonder why God would choose to pass over his transgression but make others scapegoats.
Call to Word action
Romans 11:33 ► O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out!
The Christian clarion duty
Every believer's question should be: Lord what can l do or what can you do for me to be a beneficiary of Divine impunity?..
He was a man who deeply repented when he knew he had failed and God was favorably disposed to him!
Prayer
Psalm 89:20 ► I have found David my servant; with my holy oil have I anointed him:
With whom my hand shall be established: mine arm also shall strengthen him.
Lord, find me, establish me, pass over my transgression through mercy and grace, in Jesus name.
God bless you and be blessed as you go today.
God bless you.
