*ARE YOU LOOKING FOR A MATCH? (2)*

*Scripture Treasure.*

Proverbs 18:22: *Whoso findeth a wife findeth a good thing, and obtaineth favour of the LORD.*

*Insight and Highlight.*

Do you want to be complete and in harmony with your match? Allow Christ. Only in Him will you be complete, ref Col 2:10.

*Scripture Commentaries.*

Yesterday, we looked at the match as an act of two becoming one.

Today, we will look at it as an act of getting an equal. Someone will be described as getting a match when he gets an equal or a similar or an exact pair like him.

Every process of matching involves making choices.

Choice affords us the opportunity to select between two or more alternatives or possibilities.

We make choices every time because we can not have everything.

Choices can be good or bad. A good one will give you good prospects. A bad one will bring you regrets.

Not all good choices are godly, Prov 14:12.

What makes a choice good is when the choice aligns with God’s plan and purpose.

For example, your decision to marry is good, but it will be disastrous and regretful if you marry a wrong spouse.

It is not just good that you find a wife or that a man finds you, but what makes his choice good is determined whether he has first found God before he finds you.

Remember these two scriptures and must be understood when jointly read and understood.

First, wisdom says in Prov 8:35 *For whoso findeth me findeth life, and shall obtain favour of the LORD.*

Here, Solomon was writing about wisdom, but in his writing, God is applied.

God is applied as wisdom, wisdom is God personified, and God is wisdom personified.

This verse is saying it is only when you find God or God finds you (which is in the act of seeking, believing, and following Christ) that you will obtain favor.

Second, Proverbs 18:22 says: *Whoso findeth a wife findeth a good thing, and obtaineth favour of the LORD.*

Obtaining favour from the Lord is common to both verses.

This tells us that obtaining favor from the Lord is dependent on doing what God approves: when you find Christ, you will obtain favor from God (Prov 8:35) and when you find a wife that is of Godly virtue, you will obtain favor from the Lord (18:22).

So you do not obtain favour from the Lord by finding a wife, but you only do when you find a wife of God's choice for your life. It is not just in the doing but in obeying God's plan and purpose for your life.

Also, before you set out to find a wife, you must have first found Christ, and in doing so, you obtain favor from the Lord.

It is good to involve God in the decision of who or not to choose.

When you involve God, He will choose right for you and tell you why you should not choose the one you did not choose

In Gen 2:16-17, God told Adam to choose what was right and told him why he must not choose what was wrong.

Are you looking for a match?

Run it through God.

He will tell you who you should choose and why you should not choose the one you did not choose.

*Remorse corner.*

You do not obtain favor from the Lord when you find a wife who is not the will of God for you.

*Call to Word action.*

You are complete as a couple when you match with the will of God.

Eph 5: 30-31 *For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.*

*(For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh.*

*The Christian clarion duty.*

If he/she is not the bone of your bone and the flesh of your flesh, he/she is not the will of God.

*Prayer.*

Lord, help me to match with my equal. Let us be complete in you, in Jesus name.

Good morning all, and have a blessed day.

God bless you.
