Proverbs 13:7a *There is that maketh himself rich, yet hath nothing:...."*
*Insight and Highlight.*
In the world we live today, people put their destinies in their hands, barring God out of the equation.
*Scripture Commentaries.*
Our scripture of today tells us two sides of human choices, namely:
the first man in the proverb chose to be rich but actually had nothing of value. The second man chose to be poor but had true wealth.
We will look at the first part today.
Prov 13:7a tells us that people can make themselves rich.
There are people who genuinely pursue unquestionable standards to make themselves rich. For example, there are people who, though, do not know God, yet they pursue acceptable standards to be rich. For example, in the parable of Jesus on the rich fool, Luke 12:16-34, Jesus teaches us that a man can be rich but not rich unto God. Though not rich unto God was a bad choice he made but the rich man got his wealth because the land *"...brought forth plentifully"*, Luke 12:16-21.
There are, however, people who make their wealth through questionable ways. These are people who, by every nook and corner, make themselves rich.
Jesus wrote to the church in Laodicea that they think they are rich, but they are noted in Heaven as poor and wretched.
They were not pursuing righteous standards. Therefore, Jesus admonished them to buy for Him
*".....gold refined in the fire,..."* so that they *"......can become rich;...."*, Rev 3:17
They had not yet lost Christ, but their search for wordly acceptance was now indicative of an imminent loss of Christ in their midst if adequate amends are not done.
Some people may appear to be wealthy here on earth, but their riches are of no eternal value.
It therefore goes that whether someone got his wealth from questionable or unquestionable ways, if it is not acceptable by Christ, such wealth has no eternal value. Their wealth is only good as an earthly possession.
Becareful when people show you the path to prosperity. lf God is not in it, they may make you rich, but you will lose everything.
Many people have already made up their minds to lose their Heaven for earthly possessions. These people have nothing to lose because they have no eternity to keep but hell.
A person with nothing to lose will make you lose everything you have ever worked for. Choose your company or association wisely.
*Remorse corner.*
You may think you have nothing, but the moment you go to the devil, you will totally lose everything, including what you never thought you had.
*Call to Word action.*
Hosea 12:8 *And Ephraim said, Yet I am become rich, I have found me out substance: in all my labours they shall find none iniquity in me that were sin.*
*The Christian clarion duty.*
Ephraim was boastful, failing to remember that God would bring into judgment every dishonesty.
*Prayer.*
Lord, help me to make good choices that will keep me away from anything that is contrary to the honesty of God, in Jesus name.
Good morning, all, and be blessed as you go today.
God bless you.
