*WISDOM FOR TODAY.*
*YOU CAN BE STRONG WHEN YOU ARE WEAK.*
*Scripture Treasure.*
Gen 32:24-32
*And Jacob was left alone; and there wrestled a man with him until the breaking of the day.*
*And when he saw that he prevailed not against him, he touched the hollow of his thigh; and the hollow of Jacob's thigh was out of joint, as he wrestled with him.*
*And he said, Let me go, for the day breaketh. And he said, I will not let thee go, except thou bless me.*
*And he said unto him, What is thy name? And he said, Jacob.*
*And he said, Thy name shall be called no more Jacob, but Israel: for as a prince hast thou power with God and with men, and hast prevailed.*
*And Jacob asked him, and said, Tell me, I pray thee, thy name. And he said, Wherefore is it that thou dost ask after my name? And he blessed him there.*
*And Jacob called the name of the place Peniel: for I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved.*
*And as he passed over Penuel the sun rose upon him, and he halted upon his thigh.*
*Therefore the children of Israel eat not of the sinew which shrank, which is upon the hollow of the thigh, unto this day: because he touched the hollow of Jacob's thigh in the sinew that shrank.*
*Insight and Highlight.*
Divine strength is supplied to the weary.
*Scripture Commentaries.*
Jacob's resilience, his ability to adapt, cope, bounce back from weariness, threats from Esau and his ability to pursue in desperation for change provoked the touch, that though injured and received a permanent limp but was blessed.
This Man that Jacob wrestled with was not just a man but God.
The touch from the Man, that ought to weaken Jacob, strengthened him. He wrestled all night. The injured became strong.
You can not be in God's presence and retain your weakness. When you are weak you are strong.
Joel 3:10 says *"......let the weak say, I am strong"*
Jesus received divine strength to pray. Luke 22:41-42 says as He withdrew from Peter, James and John, *".....about a stone's cast, and kneeled down, and prayed, *An angel appeared to strengthen him, and he prayed even more intensel*
These two encounters of Jacob and Jesus teach us a few things that could help us when we are troubled.
First, is that we must be in the right atmosphere that would facilitate the presence of the Spirit to help us.
Most people when they are distressed go for a drink, hangout with friends, party and engage is socializing or activities they hope would bring comfort or lessen or vanish their sorrows.
What happened in Jabbock: the Man's encounter with Jacob, and the Garden: the angel's encounter with Jesus tell us that when we are in a place that would facilitate the presence of the Spirit, the Spirit, by His knowledge of our desire and our desperation to receive, supplies divine strength to the weary soul.
The Spirit helps our infirmities when our infirmities are presented to Him and the willingness to be delivered in the place of prayer. Where the power of God is, there must be the willingness of the people to receive it. Psalm 110:3 says *Thy people shall be willing in the day of thy power,...."*
Rom 8:26 says *Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.*
In Jer 1:9, He filled the mouth of Jeremiah.
Rom 8:26 reaffirms that the Spirit's intervention will override any human weakness to pray when though the desire to pray may be there but the utterance is not there.
He gives unction to utter and to function, 1 John 2:20.
The Spirit is ever willing, if the flesh refuses or resists its weakness.
If we allow the weakness of the flesh to overide, or we refuse to be in the place of prayer or refuse to be in a place that would facilitate the move of the Spirit, we will miss or lose His power, ref Matt 26:40-41.
Are you willing to be made strong in your weakness?
Place yourself in an atmosphere that will facilitate the Spirit's move.
The Spirit will help you to pray when you are in a place of the Spirit.
*Remorse corner.*
Though the Spirit can not be bound, He still reserves the power to give strength to the weary if they wait upon the Lord.
*Call to Word action.*
Isaiah 40:29-31
*He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength.*
*Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall:*
*But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.*
*The Christian clarion duty.*
Desperate situations demand desperate actions. Until you say 'enough is enough' your heaven may remain standing still.
*Prayer.*
Give strength to my weary soul, in Jesus name.
Good morning all and have a blessed day.
God bless you.
Shalom.
