*WISDOM FOR TODAY.*
*WHERE WILL YOUR NAME BE FOUND?*
*ScriptureTreasure.*
Revelation 20:12-13 *And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.*
*And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.*
*Insight and Highlight.*
Where will your name be found? Is it in the books that were opened or in another book that would be opened, *"....which is the book of life:..."* ?
*Scripture Commentaries.*
Prior to the final judgment of unbelievers, John mentioned two books that will be opened.
Let us look at the books.
First, John wrote, *".....and the books were opened:....."* Rev 20:12.
These books will be opened at the great white throne judgment of unbelievers.
The first sets of books will have a record of the names of people and their deeds, and each person will be judged from the things written in the books, Rev 20:12b.
The dead are judged according to their deeds.
This confirms Jesus' words in Lk 12:2 *For there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; neither hid, that shall not be known.*
These first sets of books opened may also be books of records of those who died in the sea and records of those who were in Hades, Rev 20:13.
Nobody dead will be missed out on Judgment Day.
These illustrations suggest that these book may also contain every way any person may have died. For example, those who died in the sea, the sea will give their dead bodies up for judgment. Other death by other means, death gave them up, Rev 20:13.
Second, the illustration of *"......another book was opened, which is the book of life:...."*, Rev 20:12 is the book of life as referred to.
In the judgment seat of Christ, the book of life was not mentioned until the great white throne judgment of unbelievers in Rev 20:12.
The first mention of the book of life was by Moses in Exd 32:32.
He told God, *"Yet now, if thou wilt forgive their sin--; and if not, blot me, I pray thee, out of thy book which thou hast written.*
In Psalm 69:28, it is referred to as *".....the book of the living...."*
The book of life may not have been mentioned at the judgment seat of Christ for believers in 1 Cor 3:13-15 because there was no need.
There is because believers
are forgiven in Christ, and their names were already written in the book of life.
Psalm 69:28 concludes saying the book of the living, which is the book of life a book in which the names of the wicked will *"......not be written with the righteous."*
Though the righteous are forgiven and their names are written in the book of life, their works also will be made manifest. 1 Cor 3:13 *"every man’s work shall be made manifest; for the Day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire, and the fire shall test every man’s work of what sort it is.*
Believers who die are absent in the body but present with the Lord, 2 Cor 5:8 and are *".....carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom:.....* Lk 16:22.
Unbelievers who die may have been taken straight to Hades, and Hades gave them up for judgment.
This assertion is confirmed in Luke 16:22-23, which says about the rich man *"......the rich man also died, and was buried;*
*And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments,...."*.
What happens in Rev 20:12-13 is God's way of showing that He keeps records of all we do and will make them open. To the wicked, this shows them that their names will be checked, and it will be made known to them that as wicked people, their names were not in the book of life.
Those whose names are not found are thrown into the lake of fire. This officially determines those who will end in eternal everlasting fire.
It contains the names of believers who will not be thrown into the lake of fire.
The wicked are thrown into the lake of fire because the book of life does not have their names, Rev 20:15.
Will your name be found in the book of life?
It is important that your name is found in the book of life.
Do not allow your name to miss from the book.
*Remorse corner.*
The book of life does not have the names of the wicked written in it.
*Call to Word action.*
Revelation 20:15 *And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.*
*The Christian clarion duty.*
The book of life only has the names of believers. Live to have your name in the book of life.
*Prayer.*
Lord, let my name be written in the book of life, in Jesus name.
Good morning all, and have a blessed day.
God bless you.
