WHEN WE DISOBEY....(3)
*WISDOM FOR TODAY.*
*WHEN WE DISOBEY.....(3)*
*Scripture Treasure.*
1 Sam 16:1 ► *And the LORD said unto Samuel, How long wilt thou mourn for Saul, seeing I have rejected him from reigning over Israel? fill thine horn with oil, and go, I will send thee to Jesse the Bethlehemite: for I have provided me a king among his sons.*
*Insight and Highlight.*
When we disobey, we lose every opportunity before God to serve in authority.
*Scripture Commentaries.*
Samuel almost drew the ire of God by continuing to grieve over Saul.
God's word to him looks like the tone of an angry God who expected Samuel to straight away understand why Saul should not continue as king.
Trying to pacify God when He is angry
could be very delicate, and anything may happen unexpectedly.
How would one expect God would tell Moses to stop talking Him out of His decision to keep him from entering the promise land?
Samuel was fulfilling his obligation as a priest and prophet who would not cease praying for the people, but as far as God was concerned, Samuel was not moving forward with His decision.
While Samuel was doing what we know is right as a prophet, king maker, and intercessor, God was having none of it. God's stand on Saul was final, unquestionable, and irreversible!
Samuel's grief over Saul did not produce the righteousness that God desired, James 1:20
When we disobey, when we make God angry, whatever we do or not may not change God at all.
Truly, it is a terrible and fearful thing to fall into the hands of the Almighty, Heb 10:31.
Let us tread softly and avoid His anger.
*Remorse corner.*
Immediately, God removed Saul, there was no turning back. A replacement was brought in just as quickly as Saul was removed.
*Call to Word action.*
Acts 13:22 *After removing Saul, He raised up David as their king and testified about him: 'I have found David son of Jesse a man after My own heart; he will carry out My will in its entirety.*
*The Christian clarion duty.*
God had moved on, but Samuel was still dragging his feet.
We need to walk along with God. We need to know when He has stopped or is moving.
*Prayer.*
Lord, help me not to do something else from what You are doing, in Jesus name.
Good morning all, and have a blessed day today.
God bless you.
