*WHAT ROOT IS SPRINGING OUT FROM YOU? (7).*

*Scripture Treasure.*

Matthew 15:13.

*But he answered and said, Every plant, which my heavenly Father hath not planted, shall be rooted up.*

*Insight and Highlight.*

Who and what are rooted in your heart will determine who and what will be rooted out.

*Scripture Treasure.*

Having seen the essence of the root in the lives of both the believer and unbeliever that their outward behaviour is determined by what is rooted in them, the bible teaches us two, among many other, ways we can pray effective prayers either to strengthen the root in us or to get rid of it.

First is in Matthew 15:13 *But he answered and said, Every plant, which my heavenly Father hath not planted, shall be rooted up.*

Second is in Isaiah 37:31 *And the remnant who have escaped of the house of Judah shall again take root downward and bear fruit upward.*

While the first tells us of uprooting evil roots, the second tells us of a strengthened root.

These two passages highlight that the power of growth depends on the strength of the root.

While Matthew 15:13 tells us of the possibility of a wrong root stemming up in a person and the immediate removal and destruction of anything not originating from God's divine authority, Isaiah 37:31 tells us recovery, restoration and growth after siege, captivity and/or destruction.

All these point to the root.

However, there is one notable verse, among many, that teaches us in the light of the two scriptures above that for our prayers to be effective they must uproot the root causes of our problems.

Jesus's word teaches us that there are things planted in human hearts that are not His. If so is the case, we must uproot it.

Here Jesus tells us that if we are to deal with any problem successfully we must deal with it from the root.

Most prayers we pray often cuts off the plant not the root.

Job 14:7-9 says *For there is hope of a tree, if it be cut down, that it will sprout again, and that the tender branch thereof will not cease.*

*Though the root thereof wax old in the earth, and the stock thereof die in the ground;*

*Yet through the scent of water it will bud, and bring forth boughs like a plant.*

Job says a tree whose root is not uprooted but the plant is just cut will come alive again.

While Job 14:7-9 also encourages through this scripture that when a person is not dead (because his life, the root is still alive though he is wounded, hurt or frustrated, he still has hope), it teaches us that a reason why some problems keep recurring is because our prayers only cut of the tree of problems but does not uproot the tree of problems from the root!

James tells us that righteousness of a person makes his prayers effective, Jam 5:16, it is also right to say that prayers that root out the foundational problem is effective.

The psalmist teaches us that if a foundation problem is not repaired there is litte or nothing that would come out of it or nothing the righteous could do.

Oftentimes prayers cut off the tree of afflictions but not the root

For the best repair and restoration, it must be rooted out.

*Remorse corner.*

Routing-out prayers are effective prayers.

In other words, prayer that uproot rather than cut-off.

*Call to Word action.*

Job teaches us that as long as the root remains, any *"....scent of water it will bud, and bring forth boughs like a plant.*

Every attempt to repair or destroy a tree must begin from the root or else the same problem will persist.

*The Christian clarion duty.*

Effective prayer starts from rooting-out or uprooting the foundation of the problem.

Effective prayer is rooting-out prayers.

*Prayer.*

Lord, let my prayers root-out my problems rather than cut out the tree of my problems in Jesus name.

Good morning all, and have a blessed day.

God bless you.

Shalom.
