Luke 15:11-12 *And he said, A certain man had two sons:*
*And the younger of them said to his father, Father, give me the portion of goods that falleth to me. And he divided unto them his living.*
*Insight and Highlight.*
Proverbs 13:11 *Wealth gotten by vanity shall be diminished: but he that gathereth by labour shall increase.*
*Scripture Commentaries.*
It is wicked practice to acquire possessions by coarse, undue influence, or unrighteous persuasions. The prodigal son was hasty, and his move was adjudged sinful enough to justify a parable to illustrate salvation.
There are a few things we can learn.
First, the prodigal son was asking his father for what his father still lived on.
Luke 15:12 says the father *"....divided unto them his living.*
It was inconsiderate and wicked of him to ask his father for an inheritance while his father still lived on them.
Second, dishonest gains dwindles away. What would have been a well-deserved inheritance turned dishonest by selfishness and greed.
His corrupt dispositions to request, which moved him to ask for
*".....the portion of goods that falleth..."* for him will also move him to the same sinful ways of lavish and squandering ways of spending, Luke 15:12-14.
Third, an honest heart to patiently wait and do right will preserve a man from disastrous and fatal mistakes.
We must be careful in life.
God knows the intents of our hearts.
The prodigal son's desire to feed on his pride and luxury of life was enough to make his possessions and wealth diminish to nothing.
We must be careful of wealth that comes quickly or that we come by quickly.
When we desire a quick shortcut to acquire what we do not work for, such kind of wealth slips and dwindles away very quickly.
A shortcut usually cuts one short.
Wait for your time. It shall surely come!
*Remorse corner.*
What would have become the possessions of the prodigal son had now been wasted by his lavish lifestyle. The remains of his father's possession now only belonged to the elder brother exclusively.
*Call to Word action.*
Luke 15: 31 *And he said unto him, Son, thou art ever with me, and all that I have is thine.*
*The Christian clarion duty.*
When we gather by righteous diligence and labor, we shall increase.
*Prayer.*
Lord, help me to patiently wait for my time. Do not let me be hasty to lose my Kingdom possessions and inheritance in Jesus name
Good morning all and have a blessed day today.
God bless you.
