THE TRUTH ABOUT THE TRUTH
*WISDOM FOR TODAY*
*THE TRUTH ABOUT THE TRUTH..*
2 Chron 18:7 *And the king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat, There is yet one man, by whom we may enquire of the Lord: but I hate him; for he never prophesied good unto me, but always evil: the same is Micaiah the son of Imla. And Jehoshaphat said, Let not the king say so.*
*Insight and Highlight.*
There are words appealing but not God appeasing.
The truth about the truth is that it is true.
The truth is pleasing and soothing.
Jesus, as the truth, appeased and pacified God's anger over the human race.
Jehoshaphat, king of Judah, feared God, but Ahab, king of Israel, had no fear of God.
They were unequally yoked for this reason. The relationship between Kings Jehoshaphat and Ahab was an unholy one.
Jehoshaphat told Ahab that they needed to seek the word of God from a prophet of the Lord. Every other prophet except Micaiah lied to Ahab, saying Ahab would go to the war and come back safely.
Micaiah told Ahab he would not return from the war.
King Ahab hated God's prophet, Micaiah, because he told the truth.
It is becoming more common as in old times for people to hate the truth.
Failure to heed to the truth is the bedrock of our ailing churches, families, societies, communities, nations, and the world at large.
Most people would make more friends with liars than they would with
Jesus warns explicitly saying, in John 8:32, *"And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.*
Paul warns in 1 Thess 5:21 saying,
*Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.*
In other words, Paul is saying we should search every avenue for the truth, and when found, we should hold on to what is good. This means holding on to what is true.
There is a saying that when you speak the truth, you do not need to remember anything.
It is only when you lie that you will need to remember what you have said.
This is what makes truth constant from everlasting to everlasting. It does not change. It is absolute.
This is why Jesus is the truth.
John 14:6 *Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.*
Anyone who lives on a lie is like a person living on borrow time. He/she is an accident about to happen.
Ahab did not return from the war because he ignored the truth. He died, 2 Chro 18:34.
You may rejoice over a lie, but it is only temporary.
*Call to Word action.*
The lie imprisons. This is why the truth sets free.
*The Christian clarion duty.*
Telling the truth may drive friends and some people away from you.
When the truth is revealed, the same people who avoided you will come looking for you.
Lord, help me to obey the truth, in Jesus name
Good morning, and have a blessed day.
God bless you.
