*WISDOM FOR TODAY.*

*ONLY REMEMBERED....."(2)*

*Scripture Treasure.*

Ecclesiastes 2:16

*For there is no remembrance of the wise more than of the fool for ever; seeing that which now is in the days to come shall all be forgotten. And how dieth the wise man? as the fool.*

*Insight and Highlight.*

Understanding the temporary nature of life should motivate us to live purposefully for Heaven's gain.

*Scripture Commentaries.*

Heaven takes record. You can be sure that if children of men could keep records of people, Heaven would do far better.

Solomon not only explained the futility of remembrance by children of men of those who have died, he also tells us that both the wise and foolish, the rich and poor, the mighty and the defenseless die alike.

Solomon asked *"....how dieth the wise man? as the fool.* He must have asked this, knowing by his writing that tells us that

children of men die like beasts.

From his writings, death does not respect the rich, the wise, and the fool. It is a leveler.

No one has an explanation of why this is so, but it tells us of the vanity of life.

How gruesome a man dies may not affect his eternal destination of Heaven. Great men of God died gruesome death yet are in Heaven, Matt 14:9-12.

How poorly the children of men treat people at their death does not mean eternal destruction for the dead in question.

Even the poor wise man may have been forgotten, but he is remembered by the scriptures, Eccl 9:15. The people in the city did not remember him, but God remembered him in the scriptures.

Those who have died and are fondly remembered do not know what happened after they died, Eccl 9:5.

However, those who are written in the book of life will know because, though they died, they shall rise to hear their names never to die again, Rev 13:8; 20:12.

No matter how illustrious a person was, no matter how he fought for his nation, no matter how mighty a person was, his remembrance will not be forever if they left no impact in the Kingdom of God.

No matter how illustrious a person was, no matter how he fought for his nation, no matter how mighty a person was, his death may not be edifying as one would expect.

Death will have no respect for anybody regardless of his status when he is alive.

The Bible cites in two verses, among others, that *"......it is clear that wise men die, and the foolish and the senseless both perish and leave their wealth to others.* Psalm 49:10.

He tells us that since children of men can not live forever, they are like beasts that perish.

Psalm 49:12 *But a man, despite his wealth, cannot endure; he is like the beasts that perish.*

While remembrance may not be given or celebrated equally because people are more influential than others, death, however, becomes the inevitable event that equalizes all people, regardless of their wisdom or folly.

It is good to influence your generation, but are you influencing the Kingdom of God in your generation?

We have control over who we want to be but do not have control over how death would come if we leave it to its course of action.

Surely, it is not good to die as a fool, Eccl 7:17, but how we would be honored in rememberance is the discretion of people who live after us.

Solomon tells us all together of the futility of life in remembrance, which can not be forever and death, which the dead do not know what people would do when he is gone.

Solomon echoes Eccl 2:16 saying in Eccl 9:5

*For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten.*

It is futile to live just for the purpose of being immortalized after death. While it is good to leave a good legacy to be remembered and handed down to generations, let how God would preserve you in His book be your ultimate priority.

Cruel death has often claimed the lives of God's most fearing men, but though it remains a leveler, the righteous shall be separated on Ressurection morning.

Strive to be among the saints who will be

remembered on Ressurection morning. They will be remembered because of what they had done.

*Remorse corner.*

The idea that both the wise and the foolish would be forgotten underscores the futility and vanity of human endeavors apart from God.

*Call to Word action.*

Solomon teaches and encourages that we enjoy life, Eccl 9:9-12. He, however, teaches us that we should not enjoy life to forget its bad side. If you study the book of Ecclesiastes, you will not see life as possessive.

*The Christian clarion duty.*

True wisdom considers eternal values. We should seek wisdom that aligns with God's will and purposes. It is the best legacy to leave behind.

*Prayer.*

Lord, let me be remembered for what l did for Kingdom sake, in Jesus name.

Good morning all, and have a blessed day.

God bless you.
