*LEARNING FROM TRIALS. (6)*
*Scripture Treasure.*
Rom 8:18 *For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.*
*Insight and Highlight.*
The devil does not have the right to take you backwards but he may if he has reasons to do so.
*Scripture Commentaries.*
The devil does study his eventual victims.
He will soon get to know those who have come to Christ just for what they want from Him. These are those whom their love for Christ is dependent of what He gives them
The so-called Christians who can not endure will soon exit the race.
While the devil does not have the power to subdue the believer, he may have enough reasons to do so once he sees that the love you have for Christ is dependent on what He gives you.
This was what informed Satan when he told God that Job was serving Him because of the protection God was giving him, ref Job 1:9-11. Satan was, however, wrong!
Some Christians may not end the Christian race as Christians but as a used-to-be-Christian or backslider or ex-believer.
Paul wrote in Rom 8:18 that we believers should have the belief that the hardships of this life are temporary and insignificant when contrasted with the eternal glory and joy that will be revealed in the future for those who are in Christ.
The misconception we often have is that the glory is in the future not now and its unbearably too long in the midst of a daily struggle both in pain and survival. When will it end?
Some or many Christians may not see an end as overcomers not because it will not happen but they just can not cope and do not hope to survive it.
Jesus warns and ask that we count the cost following Him before we start following, Lk 14:28-30.
When we have decided to follow, He does not want us to start but not finish, Luke 9:62.
He warns against being neither cold nor hot, Rev 3:15-16.
There is one passage in 1 Cor 10:13, out of many that God wants us to know and remember in our time of trials.
*No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.*
In this passage, Paul teaches us four things.
First, is that whatever temptation/trial you are going through, you are not the first and you are not alone.
Second is that God is faithful and will not allow you to go through any temptation that would overwhelm you. This means He has equipped you enough to overcome your trials even before they starts. You can only discover this if you seek God's face rather than turn your face from Him.
Third is that there will always be a way out of what you are going through.
Fourth is that you will be able to find a way out of your trials if you endure. When you endure, you will be patient enough to see the faithfulness of God that He is able to see the way of escape He has provided.
If you do not endure, you will give up and lose to the temptation and the devil.
*Remorse corner.*
When you run away from God because of the challenges you are facing, the devil is waiting for you. He will take you back and inflict more pains than you were facing as a child of God, Matt 12:43-45.
*Call to Word action.*
Jesus says *"..... learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls."*, Matt 11:28.
*The Christian clarion duty.*
Learn from Jesus by learning lessons He teaches you in your trials.
*Prayer.*
Help me to see and learn from You in my times of trials, in Jesus name.
Good morning all, and be blessed as you go today.
God bless you.
Shalom.
