*WISDOM FOR TODAY.*

*KEEP YOUR HEAD HIGH! (3).*

*Scripture Treasure.*

1 Kgs 19: 9-18.

*And he came thither unto a cave, and lodged there; and, behold, the word of the Lord came to him, and he said unto him, What doest thou here, Elijah?*

*And he said, I have been very jealous for the Lord God of hosts: for the children of Israel have forsaken thy covenant, thrown down thine altars, and slain thy prophets with the sword; and I, even I only, am left; and they seek my life, to take it away.*

*And he said, Go forth, and stand upon the mount before the Lord. And, behold, the Lord passed by, and a great and strong wind rent the mountains, and brake in pieces the rocks before the Lord; but the Lord was not in the wind: and after the wind an earthquake; but the Lord was not in the earthquake:*

*And after the earthquake a fire; but the Lord was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice.*

*And it was so, when Elijah heard it, that he wrapped his face in his mantle, and went out, and stood in the entering in of the cave. And, behold, there came a voice unto him, and said, What doest thou here, Elijah?*

*And he said, I have been very jealous for the Lord God of hosts: because the children of Israel have forsaken thy covenant, thrown down thine altars, and slain thy prophets with the sword; and I, even I only, am left; and they seek my life, to take it away.*

*Yet I have left me seven thousand in Israel, all the knees which have not bowed unto Baal, and every mouth which hath not kissed him.*

*Insight and Highlight.*

The glory in the life of a person will attract much of Satan's attention.

*Scripture Commentaries.*

Paul talks about the glory in a person describing it as a treasure.

He says in 2 Cor 4:7 *But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.*

We can look at Paul's statement, first reffering to us as earthen vessels, vessels of clay, fragile and easily broken and second as containing or holding valuable treasure which is the light of God that displays the glory of God in us.

This is why vessels of God can display and manifest power, not by their own abilities or merits, but to the divine power at work in them.  He writes in 2 Cor 4:7b *That the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us":*

Vessels like Elijah had the glory of God, which gave them the divine abilities to proclaim the word of God with boldness and power.

While Satan could not do much about the glory manifested, he attacked and made weak the 'earthen vessel or container' holding the treasure of glory.

Elijah was shaken, broken, and crushed, making him vulnerable and weak.

Jezebel forgot, or it never crossed her mind that though Elijah was weak, vulnerable, and could not continue his ministry, God's power was made manifest through him.

She forgot that God manifested Himself through him so that the world would recognize it was not him doing the work, but God.

God proved Himself in Elijah and that though he fled from Jezebel, his translation to heaven, not seeing death, was God's endorsement to the ministry of the prophet.

His life teaches that the glory of a person may be injured, hurt, or damaged and how God can repair, make amends, and restore it.

His life teaches that glory can be destroyed if we fail to own up to it and ask God for protection.

People kill other people's glory. People die untimely. Some glories are destroyed at birth.

Hosea 9:11 says *As for Ephraim, their glory shall fly away like a bird, from the birth, and from the womb, and from the conception.*

Some people make shame of their glory by exchanging their God-given glory to serve Satan, ref Rom 1:23.

Some often make shame of the glory by pursuing earthly pleasures lacking concern for spiritual values.

*For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ:*

*Whose end is destruction, whose God is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things.)* Phil 3:18-19.

Call on God to help you to keep your head high, never to give up in the face of disappointment, trials, and affliction.

Do not allow Satan to destroy your glory.

Pray to maintain and sustain your glory through Christ Jesus.

*Remorse corner.*

The opposition a person faces is determined how much his glory is.

*Call to Word action.*

The brighter your star or glory the tougher your opposition.

*The Christian clarion duty.*

Nobody throws stones at an unripe fruit.

You are a ripe fruit for God's use. Satan wants to pluck you to destroy God's harvest.

*Prayer.*

Lord, let not Satan pluck me out of Your hands in Jesus name.

Good morning all, and have a blessed day.

God bless you.
