*WISDOM FOR TODAY.*

*KEEP YOUR HEAD HIGH! (2).*

*Scripture Treasure.*

1 Kgs 19: 9-18.

*And he came thither unto a cave, and lodged there; and, behold, the word of the Lord came to him, and he said unto him, What doest thou here, Elijah?*

*And he said, I have been very jealous for the Lord God of hosts: for the children of Israel have forsaken thy covenant, thrown down thine altars, and slain thy prophets with the sword; and I, even I only, am left; and they seek my life, to take it away.*

*And he said, Go forth, and stand upon the mount before the Lord. And, behold, the Lord passed by, and a great and strong wind rent the mountains, and brake in pieces the rocks before the Lord; but the Lord was not in the wind: and after the wind an earthquake; but the Lord was not in the earthquake:*

*And after the earthquake a fire; but the Lord was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice.*

*And it was so, when Elijah heard it, that he wrapped his face in his mantle, and went out, and stood in the entering in of the cave. And, behold, there came a voice unto him, and said, What doest thou here, Elijah?*

*And he said, I have been very jealous for the Lord God of hosts: because the children of Israel have forsaken thy covenant, thrown down thine altars, and slain thy prophets with the sword; and I, even I only, am left; and they seek my life, to take it away.*

*Yet I have left me seven thousand in Israel, all the knees which have not bowed unto Baal, and every mouth which hath not kissed him.*

*Insight and Highlight.*

The greater your success, the greater the opposition.

*Scripture Commentaries.*

The story of Elijah was one of the major successes accomplished by servants of God in the bible.

His power to call fire down was one of the extraordinary miracles that proved fire as a symbol of power and the presence of God.

He called fire from heaven not because God intended it but because he wanted it to destroy the prophets of Baal.

If he had called anything other than fire, God would have sent it!

This extraordinary power of God shook the altar of Satan for Jezebel to call for his head.

Success is one of the ways we can prove our enemies wrong, and the more successful we are, the more enemies that will emerge.

First, enemies in the clothes of friends who have come to share your success, not because they love you but for what they want from you.

Second, real enemies who would not pretend. They just hate your success.

There arose such declared death sentence that Elijah had to flee just in case Jezebel had more than enough people to catch and deliver him to Jezebel.

Without a doubt, Jezebel would have people sent out to get Elijah because evil people like that do not make such sinister pronouncement without having people. Prominent among Jezebel's henchmen would be the followers of the 450 prophets slain. They will be thisty for a revenge.

The more battles we win, the more may come our way.

As Satan will not stop roaming about looking for whom he may devour, let us be assured that our God will not rest content with Satan on our behalf.

He says He will contend with them who contend with us, Isaiah 49:25.

He says He will not be silent over our troubles. He says in Isaiah 62:5-6

*I have set watchmen upon thy walls, O Jerusalem, which shall never hold their peace day nor night: ye that make mention of the LORD, keep not silence.*

*And give him no rest, till he establish, and till he make Jerusalem a praise in the earth.*

He can tell us to hold our peace while He fights for us. In Exd 14:14, He says *The Lord shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.*

In Isaiah 33:10, He says *Now will I rise, saith the LORD; now will I be exalted; now will I lift up myself.*

Elijah's story teaches us that the powerful can be oppressed and tormented by Satanic forces.

In Psalm 12:5, He says *For the oppression of the poor, for the sighing of the needy, now will I arise, saith the LORD; I will set him in safety from him that puffeth at him.*

Be ever war ready as a child of God. The more ready you are with God, the more battles you will win.

Follow God's directives in battle with Satan. Elijah, but for God's intervention, teaches us that fleeing without God's directives to do so can be most dangerous.

Joseph's story teaches us that fleeing under God's directives can be as good as fighting to win Satan, ref Matt 2:13-15.

The greater your success, the greater the opposition that rises up against you.

Though Satan may be against you, just make sure you are not against God, and He is not against you, Rom 8:31.

Keep your head high in the face of adversity by focusing on God!

He fixes everything.

*Remorse corner.*

As we win battles in life, the story of Elijah tells us to prepare for more.

*Call to Word action.*

Running away from Satan never solves anything, but running into God avails for us, solves our problems, and secures us.

Remember always, Prov 18:10

*The name of the LORD is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe.*

*The Christian clarion duty.*

Our warfare with Satan will not end until death comes or until Jesus comes.

It is an ongoing battle, but we can be sure that knowing Jesus in this world can give us rest from all battles, ref 1 Kgs 5:4.

*Prayer.*

Lord, though the devil will rage, give me all-round victory. Give me rest from Satanic wars and attacks in Jesus name.

Good morning all, and be blessed as you go today.

God bless you.
