*WISDOM FOR TODAY.*
*HOW DEEP IS YOUR FAITH? (5).*
*Scripture Treasure.*
Rom 12:3 *For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.*
*Insight and Highlight.*
You have faith.
*Scripture Commentaries.*
Paul tells us that everyone has faith.
The believer is at least given *"....a measure of faith....."*
It is a gift received upon salvation, and it is given to bestow upon each believer a portion of faith, a divine essence, sufficient for their spiritual life and service within the Lord's vineyard.
It is one thing to have this measure of faith, and it may be another to operate in the office of faith as a ministry gift.
The ministry gift of faith will bring out the fullness of faith that has already been found rooted in us from the measure of faith God has given us as believers.
Paul is teaching us that there is a divine allotment rooted in us intended to enhance the operation and exercise of the God-given spiritual gift of faith effectively.
The measure referred to by Paul in Rom 12:3 does not imply a lesser or weaker version of faith.
No gift of the Spirit is greater than the other, though the administration and manifestation of one may be more spectacular, thrilling etc than others.
The disciples asked Jesus to increase their faith.
We can increase in any of the gifts, and the Spirit can refill us as many times if we are found to be losing steam or facing disappointment that often results in loss of courage.
In Acts 2, 4, and 10, Peter received refilling in the Holy Ghost after his initial baptism.
Faith does not fail. It is we who fail.
We see that faith can be encouraged, and this may increase our inner motivation to pursue it.
Jesus told Peter in Lk 22:32 *But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren.*
Jesus is saying here that though our faith may fail, it can be revived, developed, and strengthened.
Jesus further teaches that the faith we need may be as small as a mustard seed.
Matt 17:20 *And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.*
So what makes faith inadequate is not about how big or small we have it but about the courage we have to exercise it.
Faith will not operate effectively where there is fear or where fear exists, Matt 14:28-30.
Faith will operate effectively when we see beyond fear or do not focus on fear, Matt 14:28-30, or *...the weight that easily besets us....."* Heb 12:1.
Your faith is small because you have seen yourself too small to use it.
How deep is your faith?
*Remorse corner.*
The measure of faith God has given you is not small or big, but it is just enough and sufficient for your spiritual life and service.
*Call to Word action.*
This measure of faith, even if small, is powerful.
*The Christian clarion duty.*
Your faith can grow when you feed it with God's Word.
*Prayer.*
Lord, help me. Let me use the measure of faith You have given me and let me know that the measure of faith l have serves as the foundation for pleasing You, in Jesus name.
Good morning all, and have a blessed day.
God bless you.
Shalom.
