*WISDOM FOR TODAY.*
*DO GOOD, REGARDLESS..."*
*Scripture Treasure.*
Gen 41:33-34
*Now, therefore, let Pharaoh look out a man discreet and wise, and set him over the land of Egypt.*
*Let Pharaoh do this, and let him appoint officers over the land, and take up the fifth part of the land of Egypt in the seven plenteous years.*
*Insight and Highlight.*
When you do good, good will come back to you.
*Scripture Commentaries.*
In Gen 41:33-39, Joseph recommended to Pharaoh what Pharaoh could do to preserve Egypt during the imminent seven years of famine that will follow the first seven years of plenty.
After Joseph had suggested to Pharaoh in Gen 41:34, Pharaoh said in Gen 41:39 *And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, Forasmuch as God hath shewed thee all this, there is none so discreet and wise as thou art:*
Pharaoh chose Joseph.
Whoasking would have been wiser than Joseph to do this job?
Joseph's life teaches us a few things.
First, no matter what we are going through, we must never reward evil with evil.
Joseph could have vented his anger in prison by refusing to interpret the baker and the cup bearer's dreams (Gen 41:9-13) but he chose not to allow the injustice that brought him to prison to affect his goodwill.
Second, when you do good, good will come to you. Have a good spirit.
A clean heart and a good spirit that Joseph had in prison despite his challenges brought him before Pharaoh.
Joseph may not have known that his good spirit behind the interpretation was what would set him free.
Solomon teaches us that when we eagerly seek good, we will find good will and favor, Prov 11:27.
Third, Joseph's good heart opened the door for others.
By his interpretation that brought him to rulership and headship in Egypt, doors were opened to his brothers, and God's promises to Abraham were fulfilled, Gen 25:13, 50:20.
Joseph's good spirit tells us that he thought of other people more than himself.
Generations, until today and many years to come, will remember Joseph just as the bible recorded him
It teaches us that what we do affects other people, too.
If we do well, we will open the door for others. If we do evil, we will destroy ourselves and other people's chances of receiving favor.
Let us think about other people when we behave. Just as our good behavior will fetch us good will so will our bad behaviors fetch us evil in return.
Do good regardless.
Eccl 11:6 *In the morning sow thy seed, and in the evening withhold not thine hand: for thou knowest not whether shall prosper, either this or that, or whether they both shall be alike good.*
Are you thinking about others when
you act or just yourself?
*Remorse corner.*
Live and behave well.
Do not allow circumstances to prevent you from doing good. When you do good, you will reap the reward first before others do.
*Call to Word action.*
Prov 11:27 says *He that diligently seeketh good procureth favour: but he that seeketh mischief, it shall come unto him.*
*The Christian clarion duty.*
When you do evil, you will reap the reward. You have not only destroyed yourself but other people's chances of favor.
*Prayer.*
Lord, let no circumstances prevent me from doing good. Let me not be selfish. Help me have others in mind in all that I do, in Jesus name.
Good morning all, and have a blessed day.
God bless you.
