*WISDOM FOR TODAY.*
*CHRIST STOOPS THAT YOU MAY STAND.(5)*
*Scripture Treasure.*
John 8: 4-6 *They say unto him, Master, this woman was taken in adultery, in the very act.*
*Now Moses in the law commanded us, that such should be stoned: but what sayest thou?*
*This they said, tempting him, that they might have to accuse him. But Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground, as though he heard them not.*
*Insight and Highlight.*
Though Jesus *"....wrote on the ground, as though he heard them not.*, He was not idle as He stooped down.
*Scripture Commentaries.*
We have looked at four lessons Jesus teaches on when He stooped down before the woman accused of adultery and her accusers.
Jesus had the power to give an answer to the accusers but was quiet while He stooped.
Though He had the power to answer and forgive the woman caught in adultery, it was not His best choice to act as though He did not hear them.
Jesus will not pretend.
The gospels did not speak much about Jesus' silence, but there are two instances that illustrate the power in Jesus's silence.
First, It was a silent action spoken in a power greater than that of words.
There are times in His sojourn on earth that His silent action spoke in greater power than words.
In Matt 27:14, He chose to be quiet, even under intense pressure, Matt 27:14, and in the face of a threat on His life, Luke 4:30.
When He heard that Lazarus was sick
Christ *'.....abode two days still in the same place where he was.* though He had heard that Lazarus was sick, John 11:6.
Second, Jesus' silence can just be as powerful as if He chose to speak.
In His trial, headed by Pontious Pilate
*"Jesus made no reply, not even to a single charge—to the great amazement of the governor."*
Pilate, sitting at the judgment seat and seeing that the people only wanted Jesus cricified out of their selfish interests, handed Jesus over to them, though he maintained His innocence.
Though Jesus did not speak a word, God's power was heavy on Pilate that
he absolved himself from any guilt over Jesus's condemnation,
Matt 27:14-24.
Third, there is power in the words Jesus speaks, John 6:63.
We must also know that there is power in His silence or when He speaks and either is the same all working power of Jesus.
John 18:6 *As soon then as he had said unto them, I am he, they went backward, and fell to the ground.*
Whether He chooses to speak or He is silent, power is released.
Are you worried that Jesus is not speaking to you? He may be stooping down and quiet before you.
While He stooped quiet, be encouraged that He will come through for you. Jesus will not be silent in order to avoid those who need His salvation or those who call upon Him. He will not ignore them. Ps 103:9.
Furthermore, Jesus can not be idle doing nothing or playing with His finger when He stooped as some may think.
Jesus will not be idling Himself before a people He had severally taught to engaged and committed to service of the Lord.
John 9:4 says *"l must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can.* Or as some of us might think He stooped thinking of what He would do. He already knew what to do and what was in the heart of men, Matt 9:4, John 2:25.
Every quietness of God does not mean His absence.
*Remorse corner.*
Jesus may be quiet, but He is present.
He intimates with the Father. He and His Father are one, John 10:30
*Call to Word action.*
Christ does intentionally disregard John 11:6. He does so, so that
*"....that the Son of God might be glorified..."* John 11:5.
*The Christian clarion duty.,*
It may also be a moment of intimating with the Father. It may not be an intentional disregard.
Though He did not respond to them, He was not pretending. It is plausible to say He was intimating with the Father.
*Prayer.*
Lord, help me to know and believe that though you may be silent, You are near me, in Jesus name.
Good morning all, and have a blessed day.
God bless you.
