*ARE YOU A LIGHT OR A GASLIGHT?*

2 Sam 12: 8-9 *And David said to Uriah, Go down to thy house, and wash thy feet. And Uriah departed out of the king's house, and there followed him a mess of meat from the king.*
*But Uriah slept at the door of the king's house with all the servants of his lord, and went not down to his house.*

Matthew 5:14 *Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.*
*Scripture Commentaries.*
David presented a false gesture to Uriah as if he cared about his family's wellness. It was a move by David that could falsely impress Uriah of David's love but was rather an abuse on a perfectly faithful soldier.
Uriah did not go into his house, so David tried another form of manipulation to cover his abuse. He made Uriah eat and got him drunk, but he did not fall to David's games.2 Sam 12:1-13.
David was gaslighting Uriah. He, by his seemingly good gesture, was infact false almost making Uriah question if it was right it was for him '...to go into
mine house, to eat and to *drink, and to lie with my wife*, 2 Sam 11:11.
Gaslighting makes people doubt their own memory, perception, and, quite often, their sanity.
David became an abuser trying to control his victim, Uriah, by twisting his sense of reality.
He did what was wrong and wishing that if Uriah went into Bathsheba, he, David, would have been able to deny the pregnancy. This would have made him succeed by making Uriah responsible for Bathsheba's pregnancy.
Furthermore, if David had succeeded, he, having committed adultery, would have denied it ever happened.
When we try to control or twist people's right mind or sense of reality, we are gaslighting them.
When we tell people it is good to continue in sin for as long as they wish because grace is upon them, we are gaslighting them.
When false teachers, heretics, provide their false information, they make some doubt their memory and perception of the true word of God that they already know.
A perfect example of gaslighting in the scriptures is 1 Cor 15:33. *Evil communication corrupts good manners.*
We must never twist people's sense of purpose and sanity for our own selfish end. We must never make people foolish, stupid, or play on their intelligence and vulnerability.
We must never take people's humility, patience, and meekness or because they are less privileged for granted.
Lying to someone to manipulate and ultimately control them, making them look 'insane' is not God's will.
People are made to do abominable things in Church, all in the name that it is what they need to do to be delivered.
Do not lie to create false realities.
Gaslighting is deceptive and manipulative.
Are you a light for Christ or a gaslight?
