We continue in the look of dreams as visions, desires, aspirations, goals, etc.
It is God's will that we have vision. To have vision is to have an idea of what the future holds and plan towards it.
Having seen that God does give dreams, visions, and goals set for us, and there are people who have visions, there are people who are without visions, goals, or ambitions.
If there are no such people, Solomon will not warn us of the danger of having no vision, Prov 29:18.
So, there is a possibility that there are people who do not have vision. A good example may be the Rechabites, but why are they without visions, aspirations, and goals?
In Jer 35, this group of people called the Rechabites were given special mention.
Till today, as from Bible days, they still live in tents.
This is because of the commandments of their fathers.
which were that they avoid drinking wine, avoid planting vineyards, never to sow crops, grow vineyards, never to build houses or settle in homes but to remain dwelling in tents all the days of their lives.
God blessed their obedience, but they and their generations till today remained nomadic, without any vision to expand, improve, no ambition, nor have goals for themselves besides what were laid down by their fathers.
The story of the Rechabites teaches us a few things.
Your vision, dreams, and aspirations can be distorted by family traditions and beliefs.
People's legacy of yesterday can influence today's generation and those to come.
People can rule other people's world by their dictates even when they have died.
People can make you live their world rather than you living your own self willed world. People can be influenced to live other people's lives.
People can be faithful and loyal to people who limit them.
Not to say that parents should not give or leave instructions, directives or legacy for their children but any of these that seem to enslave or take personal liberty away should be addressed in a way that though the children obey legacies, they should not at the same time be limited and vision less in their generations.
The question that will always come to mind in today's generation of the Rechabites is, 'How would they fit into today's or the ever fast changing world'?
If they are to continue to live in tents, at least they should have a way of better managing this to fit into the demands of a fast changing word in order not to remain primitive and normadic. There should be a modern approach to life rather than this.
They can not see nor have a vision of their own because of what their fathers said to them.
If you can not have vision or you see yourself visionless, you may want to find out why.
Believe it or not, family traditions do limit the way people see, think, behave, or have vision in a fast changing world!
Can you see? Do you believe in vision, dreams, aspirations, and setting goals?

When you see, you can make other people see. If you do not see, others may not see!

As much as we use the past to predict the future, today or the present day requires a corrective plan of action to improve on yesterday.

Let me not be limited to the past. Let not my past limit me, in Jesus name.
