1 Sam 20:40-42
*And Jonathan gave his artillery unto his lad, and said unto him, Go, carry them to the city.*
*And as soon as the lad was gone, David arose out of a place toward the south, and fell on his face to the ground, and bowed himself three times: and they kissed one another, and wept one with another, until David exceeded.*
*And Jonathan said to David, Go in peace, forasmuch as we have sworn both of us in the name of the LORD, saying, The LORD be between me and thee, and between my seed and thy seed for ever. And he arose and departed: and Jonathan went into the city.*
*Insight and Highlight.*
Jonathan, to David, was a God sent solution to save his (i.e., David's) life.
In life, we encounter people who are either part of the problem or part of the solution.
*Scripture Commentaries.*
We meet people in the journey of life. Everyone who comes your way will either be part of a problem or a solution. There can not be a middle way in the roles people play in our lives.
In life, there is a person you will meet whom you could say: "when you have him as a friend, you do not need an enemy."
Whereas there is a person you will meet whom you will say is "as good a person as God ever created." This must have been David's endorsement of Jonathan, Saul's son. More than this, David's soul was knitted to Jonathan,1 Sam 18:1.
David said that he loved Jonathan more than any woman, 2 Sam 1:26.
Life is a twist. Those you expect to be a friend turns to be an enemy, one you least expect turns out to be most helpful.
Jesus warns telling us that, when it comes to trust, the one who is truly your mother/brother/sister is not a blood relation.
In Mark 3:36, He was saying those who relate with Him and those He relates with are people who are His because they obey Him.
This Jesus implied when He showed who we can call *"...my mother and brothers.."*. In Mark 3:35,He says, *"For whosoever shall do the will of God, the same is my brother, and my sister, and mother.*
Jesus did not annul blood relations, He was only saying there are friends that do stay with you in trouble than a brother: (a brother here is interpreted as a relation).
God is good, and everything He does is good.
The evil that children of men do will never change the goodness of God.
People do good or evil because of the choices they make.
This is why you must thank God for the good people around you.
It is good to meet someone you can attest as "one as good a person as God ever created." You need one. God will send him/her to you in Jesus name.
