*A CHILD OF GOD DOES NOT SIN.(3)*

*Scripture Treasure.*

2 Cor 5:16 *To the one we are the savour of death unto death; and to the other the savour of life unto life. And who is sufficient for these things?*

*Insight and Highlight.*

There is an aroma of righteousness.

*Scripture Commentaries.*

Paul says that the child of God has an aroma/pleasing odour/fragrance of righteousness. The fragrance is perceived differently by those who are being saved or in the process of salvation and those who are perishing.

Paul says to those who are perishing, our righteousnesses are a dreadful smell of death and doom. But to those who are being saved, we are a life-giving perfume.

The same righteousness of a child of God that smells death smells life.

A perfume can not smell good and bad at the same time. If it ever happens, it expresses a condition of loss of sense of smell.

People who are perishing can not smell right because they do not live right.

Righteousness does not give a foul odour or smell of death as the world sees it. It smells this way to them because they can not see righteousness because it is spiritually discerned ref 1 Cor 2:14.

So righteousness is not filthy. Only sin: self righteousness is filthy, Is 64:6.

Being born again may mean nothing to people, but your attitude in righteousness will mean something to them.

One of many signs of the child of God who practices righteousnes is an odour well pleasing to God.

Regardless of how those who are being saved or in the process of salvation and those who are perishing perceive the odour of the child of God, the righteous smells good before God.

We can be assured that God has the best sense of everything.

No matter how expensive and savouring earthly perfumes may cost or how acclaimed their trademarks may be, they will not cover how awful a child of the devil smells before God.

John teaches us that the righteousness of a child of God speaks. His righteousness has a voice. By his righteousness, he is unmistakable. Even when he is quiet in righteousness, Paul says his presence emits a sweet aroma, a sweet perfume, a sweet fragrance, and a sweet savour of Christ

Paul says *For we are unto God a sweet savour of Christ, in them that are saved, and in them that perish:* 2 Cor 2:15.

Therefore, we can not over emphasize that while a child of God smells pleasing and beautiful before God, those who commit sin emit a foul odour before Him.

Looking at Isaiah's illustration that the visage of Christ was marred that He could not be recognized but once He was sacrificed and forgiveness was given, Paul referred to Christ as *".....a sacrifice to God for a sweet smelling savour.*, Eph 5:2.

Jesus Christ became a perfect example of how God feels about sin.

As He became the sacrificial lamb of the cross, it was against God's holiness to look at Him because He represented sin, so God forsook Him on the cross, Matt 27:46.

It was after His death on the cross that the anger of God was pacified, 1 John 2:2, Rom 3:24-25, and He became a sweet smelling sacrifice.

It was through His death that God demonstrated His righteousness of judging sin and setting those who accept Jesus as a way of avoiding the judgment of sin..

Your right smell may not be acceptable to the soul who is perishing but be encouraged that it will be a tranquilizing/soothing smell to those who are being saved.

Remember, God hates sin.

Take up the nature of God, feeling how angry God is when sin is practiced.

A child of God will not sin!

*Remorse corner.*

How do you smell before God?

*Call to Word action.*

As you can not cover your sin so you can not cover how you smell before God.

*The Christian clarion duty.*

Only righteousness can guarantee how sweet you smell before God.

*Prayer.*

Lord, let the fragrance of Christ in me spread through the words l speak and my actions. Let me smell right before You, in Jesus name

Good morning all, and have a blessed day.

God bless you.
