*WISDOM FOR TODAY.*
*YOUR SIN, YOUR LUST (2)*
*Scripture Treasure.*
James 1:14 *But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.*
*Insight and Highlight.*
How dangerous people can be drawn away by no other way than by themselves, yet they do not draw themselves to God.
*Scripture Commentaries.*
Yesterday, we looked at how sin limits God and how it stops Him from doing what He wishes to do for us.
We seek to look at two ways God sees sin. These, telling us that sin is the desire of man, not of Him. Yesterday we looked at one. Today, we will look at the second one.
Isaiah 59:2 personalized saying "your sin," and James 1: 14 says, *.....his own lust..."*, "your lust,"James 1:14.
The lesson for today teaches us that sin, when it is personalized, can impact one's identity
Sin can have a negative impact on identity. Sin has destroyed a once good family name or, in some cases, Christian names.
There are some family names that have been made extinct because of sin. Nobody wants to bear the family names again.
We must be careful of sins that are personalized as "your sin," your lust. "
The sin a man yields to defines him.
A harlot is defined by the sin of indiscriminate sex: adultery and fornication, Prov 7:6-27.
Jesus defines a man that is defiled by
the evil thoughts that proceed from his heart, Matt 15: 19-20.
Paul says in 1 Cor 2:11 *For who knows a person’s thoughts except their own spirit within them.....*
Your sin; your lust is the way you can make the enemy enter into you and reign over you.
Jesus identifies some people as the
*......fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars,..."*.
These are some people's sins and lusts and they *......shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.*, Rev 21:8.
What is "your sin"?
What is your "lust"?
Identify it and deal with it now!
*Remorse corner.*
If you are identified by a sin, you have become a friend to sin, God's enemy.
Do not be a friend to an enemy.
*Call to Word.*
James 4:4 *Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whosoever, therefore, will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.*
*The Christian clarion duty.*
Do not allow sin to change your identity.
Grow to know the thoughts of God.
1 Cor 2:11 *For who knows a person’s thoughts except their own spirit within them? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God.*
*Prayer.*
Lord, help me to deal with my lust, in Jesus name.
God bless you.
