WISE REPROVER IS A CROWN JEWEL

*WISDOM FOR TODAY.*

*WISE REPROVER IS A CROWN JEWEL.*

*Scripture Treasure.*

Proverbs 9:7-9

7  *He that reproveth a scorner getteth to himself shame: and he that rebuketh a wicked man getteth himself a blot.*

8 *Reprove not a scorner, lest he hate thee: rebuke a wise man, and he will love thee.*

9  *Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be yet wiser: teach a just man, and he will increase in learning.*

*Insight and Highlight.*

Wise reprovers are often frustrated by disobedient ears. Solomon admonishes the hearers of reproof:: Prov 9:12  *If thou be wise, thou shalt be wise for thyself: but if thou scornest, thou alone shalt bear it.*

*Scripture Commentaries.*

There is no beauty in rejecting wise reproof. Prov 15:5 says *"....he that regardeth reproof is prudent…"*

Jesus Christ, our distinctive and authoritative wise reprover, was rejected by His hometown, in spite of being overwhelmingly gracious (Luke 4:14-30).

When hearers reject wise reproof they lose Kingdom trust because their attitude is tantamount to a rebellion.

Prov 15:32 says *He that refuseth instruction despiseth his own soul: but he that heareth reproof getteth understanding.*

The scripture went on to say *"....Jesus did no more miracles there because of their lack of faith"*, Matt 13:58.

Often times, those who refuse wise reproof bask themselves with a false sense of peace when there is no peace.

To refuse wise reproof is to despise God. To refuse wise reproof is to destroy oneself, Prov 15:32.

If you want honor, be humble.

Prov 15: 33 says *The fear of the Lord is the instruction of wisdom; and before honour is humility.*

Truthful reproof is not negotiable.

Do not be ill advised to follow wise counsel of reproof, 1 Kgs 12:1-19.

The reprover must give wise reproof, it is either you are heeded to or not.

To neglect to give wise reproof is to destroy a soul.

Let God see you have done the needful. You will be *".....innocent of the blood of any...."*, ref Acts 20:26

Those who are remorseful and needy hearers will hear reproof and run with it. When reproof is not given at all, the needy hearers, craving correction and instruction in righteousness, go their way without any help (Jer 23:22; Ezek 33:7-9; Matt 9:37-38).

A wise reprover is golden. He is a jewel in a crown. He represents power and responsibility. He must reprove, come what may. Those who are wise will accept and love you. The fool will refuse and hate you, Prov 9:8.

*Remorse corner.*

David, an obedient ear, was righteously sorry at his own cruelty. He was guilty of aggravated adultery and murder and he confessed his own sin (II Sam 12:1-14).

Prov 5:31  *The ear that heareth the reproof of life abideth among the wise.*

*Call to Word action.*

Prov 15:32  *He that refuseth instruction despiseth his own soul: but he that heareth reproof getteth understanding.*

*The Christian clarion duty.*

Do not disobey reproof and do not rebuff and hate for being corrected. It is for your own good, (Pr 9:7-8; 23:9; 29:1; Matt 7:6).

*Prayer.*

Lord help me to heed to faithful reproof, in Jesus name.

Good morning all and be blessed as you go today.

God bless you
