BE DISCIPLINED, BE DISTINGUISHED (4)

Updated: Jan 20, 2022

2 Sam 7:14 I will be his father, and he shall be my son. If he commit iniquity, I will chasten him with the rod of men, and with the stripes of the children of men.

Insight and Highlight

There are one of things God does when a chosen vessels sins. He either takes them away or discipline to restore.

Scripture Commentaries

When a chosen vessel degenerates, God will discipline in order to restore.

David sinned against God, 2 Sam 11-12. God disciplined and restored him. He did not remove His mercy from him as He removed from Saul, 2 Sam 7:15.

He, however, chose to put Saul to death rather than discipline him, 1 Chron 10.

If you are called by God but you fail to discipline yourself, God will take over.

God chastises and disciplines out of love, Heb 12: 6-11. However, those who underwent God's judgment will tell you it is better not to sin against Him

No chosen vessel should toy with God.

Be disciplined. Discipline yourself.

Remorse corner

It is better we discipline ourselves than for God to discipline us. Who can stand before His anger?

Nahum 1:6 Who can stand before his indignation? and who can abide in the fierceness of his anger? his fury is poured out like fire, and the rocks are thrown down by him.

Call to Word action

1 Timothy 2: 19-21 Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, let everyone that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.

The Christian clarion duty

If you are God's, be warned!

2 Tim 2: 20-21 But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour.

If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master's use, and prepared unto every good work.

Prayer

Psalm 119:11 Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee. Lord help me to discipline myself through your word. Let me hide your word in my heart so that l will not sin against you, in Jesus name.

Good morning all and have a blessed day today.

God bless you.
