Be not short-sighted develop a heart of genuine service.
Scripture Commentaries
God's dealings with His favorites are beyond anyone's comprehension.
If you are one of His favorites, you will be longsighted.
The Apostle Paul says in Rom 8:18 For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.
He further says in 2 Cor 4:17 For our light and momentary affliction is producing for us an eternal glory that is far beyond comparison.
The discipline of today is to fulfill a God-given purpose for your tomorrow.
People who are distinguished today did not just start today. Their journeys to distinction started with how they accepted discipline and how they disciplined themselves.
Do not be short-sighted.

Disciplined people accepted discipline and they became distinguished.
The Christian clarion duty
Chastening and discipline may be hard. We often learn them the hard way but they do yield good fruit, in the long run.
Psalm 119:71 It is good for me that I have been afflicted; that I might learn thy statutes.
Prayer
Psalm 18:35 Thou hast also given me the shield of thy salvation: and thy right hand hath holden me up, and thy gentleness hath made me great.
Lord, handle me with all tenderness. Make me great, in Jesus name.
