Scripture Commentaries
There is no service to God that does not involve sacrifice. It started with God, John 3:16, then Christ who knew no sin became sin and became our sacrifice and passover, 2 Cor 5:21, 1 John 2:2. 1 Cor 5:7
To give your life to Christ is a sacrifice. Gal 5:24 says And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.
We must be prepared to sacrifice for God. David, in our text of today, teaches us that; no service to God comes without a sacrifice.
It is the sacrifice behind your service to God that makes it service.
There is a cost and that cost is going out of your way to make way to God, Luke 14:28-33.
The cost of following Christ is doing something that will cost you something.
What will it cost you to serve God?

Prayer
Lord, help me to follow you by my own free will. Help me to voluntarily renounce everything that might hinder my discipleship, in Jesus name.
