WISDOM FOR TODAY

*WISDOM FOR TODAY.* *NATHAN, ....A MAN FOR SUCH A TIME AS THIS?.* *Scripture Treasure.* 1 Kgs 1:11-12--► *Wherefore Nathan spake unto Bathsheba the mother of Solomon, saying, Hast thou not heard that Adonijah the son of Haggith doth reign, and David our lord knoweth it not?* *Now therefore come, let me, I pray thee, give thee counsel, that thou mayest save thine own life, and the life of thy son Solomon.* *Go and get thee in unto king David, and say unto him, Didst not thou, my lord, O king, swear unto thine handmaid, saying, Assuredly Solomon thy son shall reign after me, and he shall sit upon my throne? why then doth Adonijah reign?* *lnsight and Highlight.* Nathan, a man born *"...for such a time as this?"*, ref Esther 4:14. A man useful in distress. A man, whom on the account of distress, was born to save people in trouble. *Scripture Commentaries.* After the death of Amnon and Absalom, Adonijah, who was the fourth son of David (2 Samuel 3:4) became the eldest surviving son and became the heir-apparent to the throne. Adonijah was the son of David and Haggith. He was also a boy one could call "a recipe for disaster". Adonijah plotted to supplant Solomon from being king after their father. David had never reprimanded him for this but for the timely influence of Bathsheba, the mother of Solomon, and through the intervention of the prophet Nathan, Adonijah could have destroyed the plan for succession. Custodians of God's mandate must pray against the evils of supplanters. Adonijah played on David's old age and used many factors around him to enhance his plot. However, one man was "awake". He was Nathan the prophet, he had seen the falling and rising during David's kingship and he had always been a "man of the moment", ref 2 Sam 11 and 12. When God's mandate is overturned, people suffer. Nathan, a man of God saw this and he immediately "woke" David up. God is always on the look out for the man or woman for "a time like this". He found one in Nathan. God used him to save and preserve His succession plan for David, Solomon and Israel. Nathan wanted the best for Solomon whom God had said would be king after David If you want the best for someone, it will come back to you, Nathan was repayed with honor. He honored God's mandate, ref 1 Sam 2:30 *".....for them that honour me I will honour,..."*. *Remorse corner.* People like Nathan, are God's ever ready vessels to save situations: They are born for adversity, to save a day! 1 Kgs 1:22  *And, lo, while she yet talked with the king, Nathan the prophet also came in.* *Call to Word action.* Honor begets honor, ref 1 Sam 2:30. Nathan was honored to be one of two priests to anoint and instal Solomon 1 Kgs 1: 34  *And let Zadok the priest and Nathan the prophet anoint him there king over Israel: and blow ye with the trumpet, and say, God save king Solomon.* *The Christian clarion duty.* Psalm 18:20--- ► *The LORD rewarded me according to my righteousness; according to the cleanness of my hands hath he recompensed me.* *Prayer.* 1 Cor 10:24 ► *No one should seek their own good, but the good of others.* May God reward you according to your righteousness, as you seek for the good of others, in Jesus name. Good morning all and have a blessed day today. God bless you.
