*Scripture Treasure.*

John 15:13 *Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.*

*Insight and Highlight.*

No friend like Jesus.

*Scripture Commentaries.*

Jesus gave friendship and love, a redefinition.

He redefined it by 'greater love'.

Love for His friends was demonstrated by actions rather than words.

Love for humanity expressed in pain to Himself.

*"........that he lay down his life..."* tells us an action voluntarily done and not persuaded.

The act of laying down one's life is the ultimate expression of love and sacrifice

He showed friendship by example.

No one in history has ever chosen to face humiliation or death in the place of another person. Not even for loved ones.

We all mourn over the death of loved ones and later merry, party, eat and drink, all in the name of celebrating the life of the departed yet no one would wish he/she were the dead person.

It takes a spirit more than the human spirit to lay down your life for a friend, to risk help, and to stretch yourself beyond limits to help your friend.

Jesus' wilful submission teaches us that love begins with us, that practising true love does not depend on whether people do evil in return for it, that love is constant, that it can not be influenced and that it exists on its own, it is in perfect existence. No bad reaction to love should undermine the essence and power of love.

1 Cor 13 and these and many more are the tones of friendship love.

Judas ought not have been a friend. He regretted being a friend and wished he had never been one.

The danger with such friends is that irreparable damage would have been done.

Jesus wished we never had such like Judas as a friend or follower.

Do not start a friendship you know you would not keep.

*Remorse corner.*

Jesus teaches us the backbone of friendship love as the supreme nature of sacrificial love.

*Call to Word action.*

The concept of "greater love" is rooted in the selfless, unconditional love that God shows humanity. The same is the intimate relationship between and among believers and Christ.

*The Christian clarion duty.*

Do not engage in friendship when you ought not to be friends with someone.

Do not enter into friedship when you know you would not be a faithful friend.

*Prayer.*

Lord, help me. Let me not be a friend who will not live to the promise of faithful friendship, in Jesus name.

Good morning all, and have a blessed day.

God bless you.
