*WHO IS ON THE LORD'S SIDE? (4)*
*Scripture Treasure.*
2 Kgs 6:8-16
*Then the king of Syria warred against Israel, and took counsel with his servants, saying, In such and such a place shall be my camp.*
*And the man of God sent unto the king of Israel, saying, Beware that thou pass not such a place; for thither the Syrians are come down.*
*And the king of Israel sent to the place which the man of God told him and warned him of, and saved himself there, not once nor twice.*
*Therefore the heart of the king of Syria was sore troubled for this thing; and he called his servants, and said unto them, Will ye not shew me which of us is for the king of Israel?*
*And one of his servants said, None, my lord, O king: but Elisha, the prophet that is in Israel, telleth the king of Israel the words that thou speakest in thy bedchamber.*
*And he said, Go and spy where he is, that I may send and fetch him. And it was told him, saying, Behold, he is in Dothan.*
*Therefore sent he thither horses, and chariots, and a great host: and they came by night, and compassed the city about.*
*And when the servant of the man of God was risen early, and gone forth, behold, an host compassed the city both with horses and chariots. And his servant said unto him, Alas, my master! how shall we do?*
*And he answered, Fear not: for they that be with us are more than they that be with them*
*Insight and Highlight.*
1 John 4:4 *Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.*
*Scripture Commentaries.*
The story of Elisha reminds us that when trouble comes, we often forget God is on our side.
Elisha reminds us that though trouble comes the spiritually alert must remind himself and others *"...Fear not: for they that be with us are more than they that be with them.*
It teaches us that God sees every problem coming and He is already ahead and there with us faster than we could think or know.
Not only should we be encouraged and spiritually alert, we should ask God to open our spiritual eyes.
When our spiritual eyes are opened, we are immediately encouraged to encourage others. Elisha must have seen the *"......mountain...of horses and chariots of fire round about...."* him before he commanded the eyes of the servant to see what he already saw around himself, 2 Kgs 6:17.
Attimes, if not all the time, the one who has spiritual eyes is able to have control over what he sees. He can not command the eyes of the spiritually blind to see what he can not or have not already seen.
God teaches us here that it is not sufficient for one to say one is on the Lord's side but it is only complete when God says He is on one's side.
If God were not on the side of Elisha, he could not have seen those horses and chariots around him.
The presence of God on his side brought him divine protection.
If God were not with him, no matter how many times he comands the presence of God, no divine protection would come to him.
The presence of God is very important in the lives of those who are on the Lord's side.
God has been known to show up for them when they least expected His presence.
The fiery furnace and the lion's den are examples of how God had made what appeared to be life threatening situations harmless before the three Hebrew boys and Daniel were thrown into them, Dan 3:8-25; 6:16-30.
He had made their crooked way straight long before they went down the road.
Isaiah 45:2 *I will go before thee, and make the crooked places straight: I will break in pieces the gates of brass, and cut in sunder the bars of iron:*
Are you on the Lord's side?
It is the only security to life's unexpected danger!
*Remorse corner.*
The Lord goes before them who are on His side
*Call to Word action.*
Rom 8:31 *What then shall we say of these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?*
*The Christian clarion duty.*
When God is on your side, you are more than many who are against you. One with God is a majority.
*Prayer.*
Lord, let me have Your presence always.
Let me prevail over Satan and the children of men, in Jesus name.
Good morning all and have a blessed day.
God bless you.
Shalom.
