*WISDOM FOR TODAY.*
*WHO IS ON THE LORD'S SIDE?*
*Scripture Treasure.*
Exd 32:25-29:
*And when Moses saw that the people were naked; (for Aaron had made them naked unto their shame among their enemies:)*
*Then Moses stood in the gate of the camp, and said, Who is on the Lord's side? let him come unto me. And all the sons of Levi gathered themselves together unto him.*
*And he said unto them, Thus saith the Lord God of Israel, Put every man his sword by his side, and go in and out from gate to gate throughout the camp, and slay every man his brother, and every man his companion, and every man his neighbour.*
*And the children of Levi did according to the word of Moses: and there fell of the people that day about three thousand men.*
*For Moses had said, Consecrate yourselves today to the Lord, even every man upon his son, and upon his brother; that he may bestow upon you a blessing this day.*
*Insight and Highlight.*
'Who is on the Lord's side?' is a call to separate from the ungodly and a call to know who would separate from them.
*Scripture Commentaries.*
It has become so clear that, from bible days, that there are people who choose not to be on the side of God.
It became important to ask for those who are on His side especially in a world that has chosen its own gods and has continued to live as if it there is no God and there is no need of Him.
There are two indicators of the call.
First is that the call for those who are on the Lord's side is to ensure the godly do not perish with the ungodly. It is not because God does not know those who are godly but it is to serve as a wakeup call to those who are not on God's side to quickly repent and change their minds before judgment falls on them.
When sin is at work, it is important to seek for those who are separate to God.
The call is always followed by the outpouring of God's wrath on those who are not on God's side.
It is a call to separate from the ungodly so that those who are not on the Lord's side would be identified.
The two angels who came to Sodom and told Lot and his family to leave Sodom because God was going to destroy Sodom and Gomorrah. Only Lot's wife, though left Sodom with Lot and their children, was destroyed because she did not completely obey the angels of the Lord, Gen 19:1-25.
In Numbers 16:21, God told Moses and Aaron to separate themselves *"..... from among this congregation, that I may consume them in a moment."*
God was calling for the separation
from the congreagation/supporters of
Korah, Datan and Abiram who had chosen to rebel against Moses and God.
In Numbers 16:26, Moses made it clearer to the people of Israel *"Depart, I pray you, from the tents of these wicked men, and touch nothing of their's, lest ye be consumed in all their sins."*
Numbers 16:35 says *And there came out a fire from the Lord, and consumed the two hundred and fifty men that offered incense.*
God did not start killing those who are not on His side, today. He began their removals
from the days of old.
Second is that the call is to alert that judgment is imminent and a moment away.
As this was the case with God's wrath on Korah, Dathan and Abiram and company, so was it at the scene of the golden calf.
Moses made the call for those who were on the Lord's side and it was only the children of Levi who came to the Lord's side.
Exd 32:35 says *"And the Lord plagued the people, because they made the calf, which Aaron made."*
This decision by the Levites secured their position as priests before the Lord. They had priestly preeminence over the other tribes.
Answer 'I am on the Lord's side', to the call that comes as a question; 'Who is on the Lord's side?'
It is a life saving call just like the call for salvation in Christ Jesus!
Are you on the Lord's side?
*Remorse corner.*
Your decision to be on the Lord's side will seal your place in God.
*Call to Word action.*
It is a call that will always be made and must be openly confessed.
Rom 10:10 *For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.*
*The Christian clarion duty.*
Those on the Lord's side will not be on the devil's side. They are saved from the judgment to come.
*Prayer.*
Lord, l am on the Lord's side and please keep me there in Jesus name.
Good morning all and have a blessed day.
God bless you.
Shalom.
